VK45 –Stage 1 Headers/JWT cams/TB/intake

Wait I thought the engine is put back already and is in testing stages? Is that an old pic or something went wrong again?

Another issue......:bomb: Pic is a test image for a sale thread I may be posting on the exhaust as Charles is building me an all new exhaust. FYI a version of the disclaimer below for all VK45 cam installers will be now be added to JWT's list of S2 CAM install instructions:

The CS2 07+ Cams and springs will work quite well in the FX45 now that my ride has been pioneered, hard =(

It is recommended that engine/trans is removed for install, but the install CAN be done in the car.
MAKE SURE to remove the VK45 2 piece lifter buckets (Bucket and shim) and install single piece buckets. Installer can measure the old 2 piece thickness and order one piece with the same size.

***DO NOT USE THE STOCK 2 PIECE BUCKETS OR ELSE SERIOUS DAMAGE WILL OCCUR!*****

Engine WILL Need to be re-tuned after cam/spring installation and it is recommended to do so as soon as possible.

Unfortunately no trip planned at the moment. But we are a "pick up and go" kind of family so you never know. ;)

New engine? ;)

VK56 bored and stroked, with a Nasty blower?

Dang I'm going nuts thinking about what your gonna do Brotha.... Very exciting!
If you don't sell the package, lord knows I would scoop it all if I didn't have to pay for a wedding, would you take payments on just the Headers:wink (2):

So I was debating if this thread should simply be renamed, start an all new thread and document the potential new build OR if I should wait and see.....soooo for now to close this chapter......The issue with the vk45 stage 1 build was the lifter buckets (commonly know as shims). VK45's have 2 the JWT cams should have only 1. The "issue" occurred on both builds at low RPM's. First failure was not too bad, second failure was catastrophic, snapping a cam, scoring the block and bending three valves...my bulletproof engine with 39K miles. That engine is now - retired.

The next build was going to be dropping in a vk56. I purchased the engine, JWT endorsed it, and my builder began measuring everything out for fitment. That's where everything started going south - again. Sizing and fitment on bell housing, mounts, AC condenser, oil pan many issues....it can be done BUT it wouldn't be done for a LONG time and it will be costly. After five months I've run of patience and believe me I have covered my fair share of invoices.

So I purchased an M45 engine today and some extra heads. Going vk45 again, going to get it right. I was looking forward to the grunt of the 56 but honestly I was already feeling a bit of disconnect from my 45 brethren. I can once again use my full custom exhaust (the reason I pulled it down) which helps, and all my parts fit.

Cross your fingers........

I thought you'll end your post with something along the lines of quitting this project and moving in to something else. Mad props for staying at it and finishing what's started. What the time frame looking like? Summer?

Believe me, I have had part-out nightmares. My guy is really done with this, as in "wash my hands" done......I am thinking a very short build time frame, possibly 2-3 weeks, then immediately tune and go.

Well let's hope this time the fx is not a guinea pig for another problem. It's hard to imagine this was dragging out since what September?

Yeah - Seriously, its been down for 5+ months....part of that is due to Charles giving me better shop rates on some off time work but had any idea on the timeline =).....he will be having some serious discussions with JWT tomorrow confirming everything one more time.
