Steering wheel shake fixed

This can easily be done if we going to have an install during our May meet.
I should be able to do it for you. If you go to the meet, I can bring my tools.

Its amazing how all the little things I am slowly finding about my FX that needs to be addressed have already been solved and laid out for everyone.

I just figured out another possible fix for this. If you tightened the steering rack bolt and still have a slight vibration......it could be due to the a/c pulley bolt slightly loose. I checked my belts last night and felt the a/c belt a little loose and when I loosened the bolt, it was SO loose......after tightened the belt and the bolt, steering felt perfect again, that brand new heavy feeling with zero vibration.
interesting, i didnt do the 1/4 or 1/2 turn mine needed 2 full turns.. and still get shimmy at times and vibration.. sometimes my steering feels lose and sometimes tight, wondering if the Ac/pulley would be the cause of this.. Anyone one else experience this? did i over tighten it??

I had the same symptoms as you. After tightening the steering rack bolt, steering wheel vibration improved but still had some problems. Try tightening your a/c / power steering pulley bolts and see if it helps! 14mm

I had my mechanic do this quick fix cuz I was getting some steering wheel shake at 65mph. At first he tightened the nut just over a quarter turn, but when I drove around for a bit and realized I had to manually return my steering wheel back to center after making a turn I had him loosen it to just under a quarter turn. Now the steering is tight and responsive with no steering wheel shake! Good easy fix!!

My C bolt was loose so I loosened it more so i can tighten the D bolt (a/c belt was loose).
So for you, loosen C bolt in order to tighten D bolt, then tighten your C bolt again.
Same for the A/B bolts......
So for you, loosen C bolt in order to tighten D bolt, then tighten your C bolt again.
Same for the A/B bolts......

All I can is OMG.
I didn't drive my car for good 2 months and I took it for a spin today and I was really freakin' annoyed with the vibration of the steering wheel. I thought it was the alignment or the tires. Since I can't address either one of them at this hour, I decided to give this a shot.
I turned it to the point there it was firm (about a good full circle) and took it for a spin. I got a big smile when I let the steering wheel go to check if it worked around 60-70 mph and noticed that there was absolutely no vibration. Man, Car feels brand spankin' new now.
I should've done this long time ago!

Cound it be the problem? Yes it could be. 'Wobbly' is definitive enough to make sense. Torque everything properly and check for vibration. Since members here have been having successs by fixing other bolts, u might wana do the same. A thorough inspection will yield great results.

Thats exactly how I felt after fixing mine the easiest fix yet. Especially since I had allready tried Allignment and had one wheel straightened, Road force balanced the wheels, and added hubcentric spacers and still had the shake. I thought it was my after market wheels because when I put the OE's on the vibration was mostly gone. But what was really happening was that my rims are 9" wide and they sit 1" out further with the + 15 offset so the combination of the wider stance and tire amplified any looseness in the steering rack. I lived with this problem for a couple of years so finding out how simple the fix was and that my rims were not the problem was a major releif.

Gonna do this now and test it out. Wonder if it will help me out at AutoX. I noticed I was having to turn the steering wheel more than I wanted sometimes.
