Hey, start a feeler list for the first Gens to gauge the interest level. Be nice to know if it would be worth your time and effort to produce them.

The fact is, the shops that I work with no longer lives up to my expectations, and raw material prices have gotten pretty expensive. I'm sure there's a huge market for the 1st Gen FX knobs, but I never started making these to make money, it was so that we can all have some quality stainless steel knobs :smile (2): No one wants to pay a lots of money for good quality product, they want to pay a great price for great quality products. As of now it probably can't happen under those conditions.

So I will probably keep looking for better shops.

hey sorry guys, my car went into the shop so I have no car to take sample photos of. A friend is going to let me test the black chrome knobs on his G37 tomorrow, so pictures will be up by then. Thanks guys!

Excuses excuses...........jk:tongue (2):

What's it in the shop for?

It's tonight and I still don't see any knobs =]
and now it's another day, in this continuing saga of the "Where's the Knob today story". Another day, another excuse

hi guys, sorry for the delay.

A lot of things came up for me and they're just excuses so I'm not going to give you guys any BS. Again I apologize for the delay, many things just aren't right right now.

The knobs came in, and I finally got a chance last night to clean them and prep them for photos. After I cleaned the smudges off them, I start to see some spots that sort of look like overspray of some sort. I was able to call the shop owner this morning, and he said that's the best they can do:mad.:

Now I'm not going to deal with this shop anymore, and neither am I going to pay him for this spotty black chrome job. There's no other way to get around this now, I will contact my old shop to see if there are any way to get rid of the spots.

What's gonna happen is, if you guys want, I'm going to get rid of these knobs dirt cheap, some are super spotty that I'm just going to throw away. The small blemished ones I will just sell at my cost or something.

Here's a pic.

You can see that the sides of the knobs are alittle bit spotty. The black chrome color came out nicely (darker and shinier in real life than in photo).

Sigh. :embarrassed:

Thanks for the update. I think I will wait until you find a different vendor to do the black chrome or maybe go with stainless if you make another batch.

I have a buddy in SoCal and he has a chrome shop. Your results are why he steers people away from black chrome. And small parts are harder to crome which may be the reason for your results. Sometimes it helps to buff the parts but I am not sure that would help based on the photos.
