Ya its possible. Need to find the wire that sends the reverse signal to the Camera unit and maybe use a switch to send power to it. It actually might even be in that same harness. Ill look into it.

but i think there is some diff in the wires of US spec and GULF specs

bcz i tried to open it and i was surprised that all the holes where with wires :S

and i tried to open the open the wire which is mention in this thread and i couldnt open it
so can u mention more specific what i can do to the wire to open it ???

the place of the wire u mentioned and the color is violet bt in the GULF specs its nt violet its purple same as the color of the first wire on the top in the last pic u posted


if u need any more info tl me i will try to get it for ;)

I don't know if they changed the wiring for the GULF specs, i may be wrong. I see no point.

It wont hurt to pull the wire, i mentioned, out and drive it around the block. If its not the right wire then just put it back on. But like i mentioned before, it sometimes will give you a hard time to pull it off. Also, the thickness of the flat head screwdriver i used is sometimes not enough lift on the security tab. Just make sure you lift the security tab up a little more and also the little tab that holds it in place inside the harness and give it a nice yank. move it around and pull again. It should come out. If it still is giving you trouble it might help to have someone pull on the wire while you make sure the two tabs are not holding it in.

i will try to do it when i have time if it didnt work i will try to remove the wire u mentioned the VIOLET 1 where ever it is i will we remove it

but first i will do same as the steps u did ....


if i could i will post a pic of it with all the holes with wires i will try to do it ;)
 
Just got this done today. I was unable to pull the wire out, and I felt that if I pull any harder the metal tip would separate from the wire. So I just cut it at a higher spot to allow reconnection in the future.

This thing totally rocks. Now it feels like a satellite is tracking me lol.

I pulled my battery while doing this, so afterwards my auto window up was disabled. Quick fix by resetting it by holding it down and up for a while.

Wouldn't hurt to try it since the 2011 is the same as the 2010. Let us know if it worked.

Yup! Just did this mod now after work. Thanks Saleen for the write up!

UPDATE: 2011 FX35 - I did this mod last night and drove to work this morning, some sad news. When I press the camera button and start driving, it stays on for only 3 minutes. I timed it twice at different speeds so it's not speed sensitive, just the functionality shuts off and goes back to your previous screen after 3 minutes. I pulled the correct wire so that's not an err.
