Install New Shocks, Struts and H&R Springs

I read somewhere that if the springs were used, you'ld just need to get an alignment right away since the springs are already broken in. I got mine done a day after install. SHould i still consider an alignment in a month? I think it's a 6 month warranty with Sears.
Get another one before the warranty expires. You should go for Firestone Lifetime Alignment deal. I paid $169 and used three times already. For those of us with lowering springs or coilovers should consider getting a lifetime alignment deal if if available. You will be saving big time in the long run. One time alignment at Firestone by me is about $80, and a lifetime deal is $170? You just have to use it two times and you got your money back.

Oh man i missed my monthly alignment at firestone ... ^^

Need to drop it off soon for my bi monthly alignment lol

^ Alignments shouldn't get "off" that frequently.....I would think maybe ever so insignificantly slightly once a year or if you hit something really really bad.

I wonder if they are not tightening enough that alignments go out of wack easier than factory off the floor????

Agreed. But I've put brand new cars on an alignment rack with 50 miles and found some to have bad toe on one side. Not enough to kill a tire but still. I've also seen some kids put cars on the alignment racks that were good alignments and make it say it was bad. They didn't know how to setup the sensors properly.

You shouldn't need that many alignments. Because unless you messed with the suspension or its worn/broken there is no need.

Bringing up an old thread, but I'm going to be doing the install this weekend. Weather permitting that is... 100 degrees before 10am will limit my work time to a few hours in the mornings on Sat and Sun. Grabbed all the tools and items I needed, so I hope to be up and running by Sunday afternoon. I think I'll do the rears on Sat morning then Sunday I'll do the fronts. Wish me luck! :smile (2):

Didn't get to the fronts but finished the rears. KYBs and H&Rs. OMG, I realize now that my car needed shocks since I purchased it with 48K miles on it. Overall ride quality with the rears on is night and day. Love the ride now and it feels like my old A4 did with the sport suspension. Great upgrade.

I just did this same exact set up and boy do I love the way it feels now! :smile (2):

how much lower does lowering springs give you btw? eventually ill have to change my shocks so migh go lowering springs route. dont feel like messing with coilovers.

I wasn't able to get a rerally accurate measurement, but I think it was around 18 1/2 before, and I'm seeing around 17 1/2 now after one day. Can't wait to do the fronts, unfortunately I probably won't get to them until this weekend.

Make sure you have a good spring compresser for the fronts and new upper strut mount bearings. The fronts are a bit of work.
Took me two days to do everything. Just another idea. If you need new front brakes, here is your chance to kill two birds with one stone.

Just an FYI after your initial alignment after initial install I would recommend an alignment again around a year later. My H&R's settled down over the year following installation and caused camber to be out quite a bit........
