deciding what to get next

UPDATE: crawford High Flow Cats + Technosquare ECU reflash//tuning + comple GTspec

hey all,

After looking to see what possible modifications i could do next to my FX (see thread "deciding what to get next : ///7177"

I have decided that my next mods will be a set of :tongue:CRAWFORD HFC's (high flow cats) and a :rolleyes:ECU reflash and tune by Technosquare...I also purchased the final 3 parts to complete my full GTspec bracing system (STB, 2 rear braces)

the decision between the HFC and the new ypipe basically ended when Tadashi, the tuner at Technosquare, said that with ym current setup a set of HFC would be more more beneficial than a new Y-pipe. Of course, the new HFC were more expensive:err:not to mention the tune by Technosquare is also a nice chunk of change. also the gtspec were not cheap....

Part of the reason I jumped to get the tune done was because it would prevent me from being able to buy any more big performance parts for a while because if i did I would need to retune and therefore spend alot more money, so it was kind of an incentive to not buy as much stuff for the FX....I mean I am in school now so im trying to not break the bank haha. So even though the HFC, TUNe, and braces cost $$ it will end up saving me $$ in the long run....basically now all im doing is saving up (maybe for lightweight wheels in the future, maybe for FI, i don't know)

but yeah, HFC's will be in this week, the braces are sitting in my trunk, and the ECU is being sent out after averyhting else is installed...so probably within a month. after that, save save save, while enjoying a freshly tuned FX

pictures and updates will come as they occur

i'm excited for the hfc's and tune the most :tonguey:

p.s. and DIY for FX ecu removal? the site has the 350z removal but im not sure if it's the same......also i neede to find the instructions for the placement of the rear 2 GTspec bars so when I do it or have it done i know/they know what we are doing....

can't wait for it to all come together
and my new center caps should be coming in, and over one of my breaks I am getting ym tailights LIGHTLY tinted....Also may be getting some custom LED work to my headlights (no, not audi style LED strips, the iron-man headlight mod) so yeah....

:tup:and of course after the tune and HFC install there WILL be some video footage to see and hear the difference, plus i will bring you the reports from my very own butt dyno.....stay tuned

---------- Post added at 08:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:57 PM ----------

there were of course no videos anywhere ic ould find of an fx with a NISMO stune and high flow cats, so the closest thing i could find were 350z's with only the exhaust and HFCs.....the fx will sound a little different (deeper, mainly) but you get the idea of how nice it will sound....

so something like this
YouTube- 2007 350Z little burnout / exhaust test
or this (same z)
YouTube- 2007 350Z nismo exhaust w/ berk HFC's

of course there are a few variables that will make it sound different, that z is HR, it's a z so naturally sounds different, different legnth piping, etc. so basically take those exhaust vids and make it a little deeper sounding and that's most likely what it will sound like (plus i have the 5/16th spacer so that will help make it a little deeper)....no more bass, just deeper... of course the HFC in the vid are berks but you get the idea...

i'm excited

Sounds like a plan and look forward to pics of all the new gear!!!

That set up sounds amazing loud yet still "nice" sounding!!!

Threads merged. Lets keep it all in one thread baker no need for multiple threads.

well they are different threads, one's an update of what i'm getting and one was just a discussion of what i was deciding on...they should be two separate threads.....i always have separate update threads

i'm looking forward to getting it all finished haha.....

and yeah that's how i like it to be...it still sounds nice and has that nissan/infiniti tone to it, but it's noticeably louder than stock.....

on a separate note, is anybody having issues logging into the org? every time i login it just logs me out again....so i can't stay logged in.....

Just keep it all in one thread, this one is long enough as it is.

alrigghtttttt:confused: lol

The thread should then be a progression. Your decision was based from the advice of the members on this thread so your decision should stay within the thread. I don't see a need to start a whole new thread.

Crawford hfc

although I wish I had another thread since some of the things have nothing to do with this one....
The Crawford High Flow Cats arrived Friday.
The GTspec STB and my new center caps should be here tommorow...
installing the STB as soon as it gets here and getting the two rear GTspecs and the HFC installed at my friend's shop....then getting an alignment....then eventually sending my ECU out to Technosquare....

pictures of the Crawford HFC's
(bought off of a my350z user)

He didn't have them on for very many miles and there is minimal damage and surface rust....

GTspec:
STB:brand new from GTspec only $15 over the group buy price,

Plan sounds good, post your post-op opinions when everything is in place!

Uhhh, don't want to see a picture of your butt dyno......

I love pictures that actually show up. At least there are two now, as opposed to only one yesterday.

LoL well the STB just got here today and the cats have been here since friday....new caps arent here yet and the other braces are in my FX....so ive just been posting them up lol im actually about to post the other braces in a minute or so......I have all of them written out already to remind me to post pictures... lol

of course, I already know the STB will be awesome since i already had the stillen one on there, I know the rear braces will be nice because i have the other 2 on the front, i know the caps are going to be high quality and a perfect match because John (turbocad6) did them. I just have to wait till I get the HFC thrown on to see how they work out...apparently I should feel and definitely hear something....and i, not doing the technosquare thing for a few weeks but that obviously should do something haha

as for my butt dyno? It's a very complex piece of equiptment:tup:

Installed the STB....

I took it around this curvy road behind my school at about 60....i can tell a bit of a difference. I need to drive around with it some more..it seems to be a bit better than the stillen but i think I just Like it more because it matches alll my other braces...lol but the build quality seems a bit better as well....definitely looks better too
kind of bummed they didn't send a decal or at least a sticker saying "GTspec" because I put all my parts manufacturer stickers on my laptop lol......
