Dash issue

I have the same prob I will take my FX to dealer for a dash replacement its still under warranty and also my drivers seat started cracking in the lower front about a month ago the dealer replaced it with no prob.....

i got an 04 fx and it started bubbling about a month ago . but it isnt real bad its only like 5 lil bubbles that u cant really tell . i tinted my windshield and purchased the oem sunshade . and so far it hasnt gotten worse . it pretty much stayed the same . thank god . i dont want my dashboard looking like it has herpes lmfao

04 dash bubbling issues here too. The UV light might make the problem worse, but I really think the bubbles are from heat cycles. Whatever adhesive used just starts to break down after a while.

Sitting out in the sun in Texas I ALWAYS have a sunshade, but sometimes I can see indentations in the dash from the edges of the shade, when the inside of the car is really hot and the dash is softer. Up near the very front of the dash by the window, the material has completely debonded - no longer bubbles, but ripples and small rips & tears.

bought my car at an auction, and i saw alot of FX's that were from FL had bubbled dashes...

Hello everyone, I have an '05 FX35 with manufacturer limited warranty and my dashboard just started bubbling up (). The car has 49K miles on it, does anyone know if this is covered under the warranty?

thanks all

I called the dealer and since the car only has 49K miles they will replace it. The service guy told me that the dash had already been replaced once. Does anyone know what causes this and how to prevent? I live in FL, could it be the sun?

That's what this entire thread is about - just go back and read the first pages.

Yes, ALL 03-08 black dashes have this problem. No, there isn't anything you can do about it.

Some people tint the windshield, others are looking for a dash cover... so far there is not a solution that everybody is running to. If you are under warranty, get it replaced. Once out of warranty, you are out of luck.

i purchased the oem sunshade , tinted my windshield n it seemed to help . the bubbling hasent gotten worse yet . i only got like 5 very lil ones u can bearly see . i had to take off my windshield tint cuz some dick head cop pulled me over for it . so i got the sunshade only n its still hasnt gotten much worse .

When I was shopping for mine recently, I saw '07's with dash bubbling. In fact the worst car I saw was an '07 FX45, it had probably 100 bubbles on the dash. I was actually interested in getting the car, but the dash bubbles made me nervous. Even though the dealer assured me it was under warranty, I didn't want to deal with buying a car and immediately dropping it off for a week or two. This car was a FL car, I looked at the Carfax and it was from Miami. Only 25K miles too.

just got my dash replaced as well as dopie. I just confirmed with dopie that this dashboard looks different from the original. There is no outline for the passenger airbag and even the color looks a little different. its a dark dark gray instead of black. Part number is (vc10aa.vc101a) any different from maybe someone who replaced their dashboard say a year ago?

I just noticed my the other day and iam past the 60K mark and back...I am at 119K...oh well...but i am still enjoying the cheetah......It stillruns great...the bubbles were hardly noticeable until I went looking for it.....

Good solution would be covering whole dash with a leather. I have seen this ones in Poland and looks really great. I will try to get few photos of it.

I actually started trying to DIY this but learned quickly you need some sewing skillz to make it look professional. I got a little further than this, but couldn't come up with a good way to attach/bond the material down.

It's an excellent attempt thus far. You know there are a lot of upholstery shops in and around houston that should be able to finish it off nicely for you. I too am starting to get the bubbling on my fx.

Yeah, I know you are right - I was hoping to make a kit that was really easy to install, so I could chug out about 50 of these and sell them to the community. Seems to be a large hole in the market for something like this - especially since all 1st gen black interiors have this problem and I've never seen an FX specific dash cover.

When I had my seat re-done, I asked about the dash as well. The guy wouldn't touch it. I was dissapointed because his work on my seat was perfect.
