Finally, The Wait Is Over!!

Now that I'm looking again, it still looks jack'd pretty high. Do the H&R's give as much or less drop as the Eibachs?

from what I have read:

Eibach - Front 1.2"/Rear 1.2"

H&R - Front 1.3"/Rear 1.2"

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not gona lie, that was actually my first though. I thought they would take her down a bit more. I didnt do any measurements of before and after.
I think that's why I'll be cool with it if they settle a bit.
But still very happy with them!

I'll take a pic in a few months of the exact location and pose.

From pictures, it looks like Eibachs lower the car more. My car doens't sit that low. I see more wheel gap with H&R. But then again.. we would probably have to do a side by side comparison since looking at pictures do not help much

don't worry it'll settle. Just wait a couple months (I suggest 6 months) to get an alignment. Best is right after install and then 6 months later - but that's 2x your price right there.

I hope it does settle. I didnt really notice any settling on my springs. It may have a bit, but not that I could really tell. They are preloaded springs, so I doubt it would by much.
We all know that the Eibachs have the stiffest ride, & maybe cuz they are lower & more tightly sprung. & Both H&R & Eibach are progressive rate springs, so the ride will stiffen up a bit as they are compressed.
Can someone post shots of their settled H&Rs? Do they handle as well as the Eibachs?

Thanks Krayzie. Here's mine again so it can be on the same page.

If it ended up like yours I'll be happy.

We should take some measurements. How bout from the bottom of the front mud gard to the ground on driver's side.

2 Days installed - 5 1/4"

Looks good Keemo!!! Keep going ... when you start modding it seems like it's so hard to stop..

From looking at your pics and Dave's, it does seem like the Eibach drop is lower than the H&R IMO. It's supposed to be .10 inch lower (in the front) than the Eibach, or could it be just the pictures?

You could also measure from center of the rim to bottom of the fender.

My eibachs from center of rim to bottom of plastic on fender:

Front: 16-9/16"
Rear: 16-7/16"

I dont believe it's the picture. My shot is actually taken from a lower angle, so the drop would actually appear less from that angle.
If it does settle like Krayz's then you should be in really good shape.

Lets' get everyone to take a measurement. That would be a first, & we would have some statistical data . . not like we have nothing better to do with our time :nerd:

when I first did my H&R's, it was a nice improvement over stock, but I too felt that it still coulda been a bit lower, after they settled a bit I wanted more so I cut the front coils & trimmed the rear mounts like rookie showed in his suspension thread, that helped quite a bit, it now doesn't look too high anymore, it don't look slammed either, it looks good. I still would like to go a bit down more, but the options there are a lot more difficult, this is about as low as I could get it without getting into major stuff like coilovers or bagging it, for now I think it's ok.

cutting the front springs will increase the spring rate a bit, the front now feels a bit stiffer, a bit more choppy, not bad still but more noticable than just a stock H&R drop. overall I'm still happy with the ride & the handling is improved even more. cutting the springs with H&R's is something I'd recommend to anyone who wants a little more drop, there is a slight trade off with comfort, but nothing very dramatic, it's worth it in my opinion & it's definatley not to low with them cut, I hammer it in nyc streets & theres no chance of bottoming or anything like that, it just sits a bit nicer..., this is how the fx should sit stock if you ask me:tongue:

Hey Turbo, how does one go about cutting the front coils...can any competent person at a body shop do it or...? if i want to go lower after i install em id probably do this but i have to find somebody who can.

it's pretty straight forward, the front spring lower end is just a continuous coil, so if you cut half a coil you have to rotate the top seat 180 degrees on the mount. it's pretty important that both sides are cut the same. any more than half a coil & the spring Will start to be loose in the seat & can shift when raised but half a coil is still OK.

the rears you really can't cut because both ends are formed, the bottom is slight, but enough that if you did cut it, the bottom won't sit right in the pocket & you will wind up with noise best case, broken spring worse case. the rears you can only shave the upper mount really unless your going to try & heat the spring after cutting to reshape the lower end, but heating it will make it even more prone to cracking, the only safe thing out back is to shave the upper spring mount really.

rookies got a good guide to this in his suspension thread, don't remember if he had any details about the rotating of the upper front pocket though... any competent mechanic should be able to handle this really, I did mine myself cause competent mechanics are pretty hard to find around here:tongue:

My car with H&R's - sorry GTO-dave no measurements. Note I have a 45:
