Jumbo's Silver FX - 2nd custom build

Track day was great - I mean I love throwing the FX around the track but it's so much more fun to have passengers in the car so I can hear them react. It's like experiencing it again myself.

Had a very experienced instructor in my car with me... and made him giggle like a girl before we even got out of the hot pits. His quote was, "this thing makes ALL THE TURBO SOUNDS".

The car performed flawlessly. The new LSD was a surprising change - I had so much more grip coming off the corners, I could actually nail the throttle at the apex rather than late. Where I had tire spin before, the car just hooked up.

At the very end of my last lap, the transmission was a little soft but as soon as it cooled off, things felt completely normal again.

As soon as I got her home, I had to wash off the track and brake dust. Quick wash, wax and trim dressing:

For the last few months my seat had been moving a little when on both throttle and brake. I thought my seat track motor gear was worn down - this would be the third time I have had to replace it in my ownership since 2004. But as it turned out... it was a single 10mm bolt on the bottom of the seat track that had come loose. I had to take the seat out of the car to find it but a quick tightening and the seat is solid again. The only reason I found this bolt is because I did go ahead and replace the seat gear... and it didnt change anything! As soon as I could see the bottom of the track, I found the problem.

Solid once again!

You the man Brad! BTW.. Do you feel a big difference with the ladder brace setup?

Just had some maintenance done - new Power Steering pump (OE) and had it converted to AN fittings from the pump to the reservoir. Goal is no more leaks! Also finally had the Energy suspension bushings installed into the steering rack.

Turns out the end links dont fit at all! Bad recommendation by the website.

Replaced an idler pulley - bearing was shot.

Replaced the aftermarket Koyo Radiator as well - had a leak at the top driver side, diagnosed as "electrolysis corrosion". So this time around, we modified a new Koyo Rad (modified G35 part number) with a Zinc anode, to combat future electrolysis. Got about 55K miles out of the last one - bet we can do better with this setup since the entire build is more mature and stable.

Also switched up oils to a slightly lighter weight Liquid Moly. Didnt like my oil pressure on startup and it seemed to take a while to warm up. The new stuff seems to shorten the wait time.

That's nuts you have to add AN fitting to the PS lines to eliminate leaks. Our FX doesn't have any PS leaks, are yours really that bad? I would think new lines and fittings should take care of that. Do you have a PS cooler?

Regarding the radiator, is that like the anode rod I had to replace in my hot water heater? That's pretty funny you have to do that. Got any pics? Are you changing the coolant frequently enough?

And finally, the LM oil. Have you ever considered Motul? I now run the Motul 8100 X-Cess 5w-40 in all of our cars, and they all seem to love it.
