WHEEL WEIGHT: OEM 20" Confirmed

I bought aftermarket wheels to save some weight on oem 20" sport wheels that was known to be over 40lbs each.

This information was totally WRONG..

Today, I measured (digital commercial scale) weight of this oem 20's and guess what..

31.5lbs

20x8 +40 OEM 20" Sport Wheels
31.5 lbs each

So overall, oem 20's aren't that really heavy for being "oem 20s"
Only way to go lighter is forged wheels like volk te37 g2 or skyline gt-r wheels that weight around 25lbs each.

yea.. i saw that thread long time ago.

03-05 FX Stock 20's - 20x8 et40 - Cast - 41lbs

just wanted to post new thread to clarify that oem 20's from my 06 fx35 was 31.5lbs

well i just scaled it on the digital commercial scale that local vendor uses to ship out products.

until today, believing they are well over 40lbs, i measured it several times more and it was 31.5lbs..

Sorry guys, pictures are upside down. Somehow imageshack is acting up today and can't upload pics with right side up.. Anyways here are proofs that scale isn't off and oem 20s that came off from my '06 FX35 AWD is 31lbs.

25lb Dumbell reads 25.4lb. Found out from using another scale that my dumbell was off by 0.4lb.

2lb dumbell reads 2lb

that's crazy! Thanks for sharing.

If they only cleared big brake kits without spacers, it would be a non-forged GT-R wheel option=)

So would there be identifying characteristics for the "limited edition" wheelsets? 31.5 lbs. is amazingly light for a 20" OEM FX wheel, the 2006 45's I just sold were made of lead......

is that 41lbs ever documented? where did it come from? I'd find it hard to believe that there can be 2 different identical looking cast wheels both from nissan looking exactly the same with one being 25% lighter than the other. there sure as hell not forged & there not hollowed out & filled with helium, only way for them to be 25% lighter is they'd have to be cast from 25% less material or some kind of exotic material that weighs 25% less than aluminum :)... that's a lot of difference & I'd say highly doubtful if not impossible... so who's actually got 41lb wheels?

well until now most of people in here believed oem 20s were 41lbs. even the wheel weight thread were posted as 41lbs until today.

one of the main reason i switched out wheels to get something lighter than 41lb oem wheels and was in shock when i found out it was only 31.5lbs. now my new wheel is 1.4lbs heavier than stock 20...

too bad you had to find out this way that some FX 'facts' aren't true. same thing happened to me when i had to change I-key batteries, IS had the wrong size listed but i was only out $5 for that mistake. look on the bright side, just think how happy you've made the FX guys w/ stock wheels by telling us our wheels are 25% lighter than we thought :smile (2):

wow, so jeff weighed his at 40+... that is so weird, don't make sense... wheres the difference? 25% is a very big difference...

yup.. it only cost me $1060

now we all know that forged is the only way to get lighter

if members with 20" wheels can measure the weight, confusion can be resolved.
