What other cars did you consider buying before the FX?

i considered buying a porsche cayenne, audi a6 or a4 or a murano because i couldnt find a decent fx35 or fx45 with decent mileage and a reasonable price, but finally found it (:
 
The car I was replacing was an EX37. I was considering a M56S, IS F, Q50 and G37 IPL. FX50 was, for the most part, the best of both worlds.
 
I love wagons. I have owned 4 subarus and I thought of getting a legacy gt wagon. But I just got tired of subaru's sort of cheap interior and build quality. I really wanted a 2014 audi allroad but didn't want to spend the money so my compromise was the fx35. I plan on doing a lot of preventative maintenance to get her driving new.

I really wanted a 2006 ml350 but the maintenance...whew
 
I was looking at a mercedez e350. But then again in new england with a foot of snow.....
Plus too many complicated electronics, then i kinda liked the 2011 bmw 5 series but didnt want
another oil leaking plastic oil panned bmw! So i always liked the fx since i always saw the 2004-2009
growl past me, the new ones not as loud,pretty nice tone but i absolutely love it!
 
Before I purchased my FX, I went through a variety of options. I started with a Camaro or Firebird (4th gens), because I'm really into muscle cars. Then I went on to looking into getting a Jeep Wrangler, because of how versatile they are. After that, I started looking into luxury SUVs; mainly because I'm also big on tech and style, so nav systems, back up cameras, leather and power everything really caught my attention. Before my purchase, it boiled down to either an Acura MDX or the F

I also looked at the BMW X5, after having numerous German cars I'm growing tired of their constant problems. Need something more reliable so I chose a Japanese car this time.
 
Considered the following new and used:

  • Audi Q5
  • VW Touareg
  • Infiniti EX/QX50
  • Nissan Rogue
  • Nissan Murano
  • Land Rover Discovery Sport

I've only driven the rogue and the FX35. I decided on the FX35 because of the engine, reliability, opting CPO for cost.
 
Well i needed something with more room than my Subaru Sedan...

Honestly looked at some Jeep Liberties (new body)
Then some Landrovers

Fell in love with the FX body and started looking around... Wanted a 45... They seem rare for my price range and me still being in school... Again...

Found one and jumped 2 weeks ago... Loved it so far... Problems and all...
 
Before getting my fx I looked at a 350z, is300, trailblazer ss, mkIII supra, maxima, g8 gt, evo 8, m45. I had a 96 Silverado that I sold so I just had my mazdaprotege5. I knew I was gonna trade it in but I didn't wanna lose the space and flexibility that comes with a hatch. All the sports cars were nice but I knew being on base I would need to move gear and other things around. The fx was the perfect mix of sporty driving and practical room. Plus could only ship one vehicle
