What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Was a busy two days for my FX, changed the water pump, cooling fan, bearing, oil change and filter change, flushed the coolant, and changed the belts. Talk about busy and last but not least gave it a good wash

Dealer oil change with the $29 special.
Free car wash.
Free key fob battery.
Free trouble shoot battery cable tightening.
Free all you can drink coffees/lattes/cappuccinos.

Yes, I'm that lazy that I went to the dealer for key fob battery and battery cable tightening. But with all things considered, I call it genius! Not all dealers are a pain. Metro Infiniti has always been a happy stop for me.

Rotated the tires and swapped out the spacers to go more aggressive on the offsets. It's now 20x10.5" front and back with +5 in front and +0 in rear. Also lowered the front a bit more, which was as much as it goes. The 3 collars now all touch so short of removing a collar, there's no more drop. Not sure if the shock body is at bottom, probably not. I could try and add more preload which would raise the top 2 collars, and maybe give me more room to drop the shock body, but ride height is even with rear so no need.

And it's hard to tell in this pic, but the rear wheel sticks out over 2" when the car is raised off the ground. At factory ride height, it still sticks out a little over an inch. At my ride height, it pokes maybe a 1/2".

I go to the dealer to re-program my TPMS for free after I switch out the tires for winter. I do enjoy the capuchins and free food.

Sitting real nice bro, love the stance

Thanks, I keep messing with the height and offsets because IMO 1st gen looks much meaner with aggressive offsets. One of my neighbors sees me on the road sometimes and he says it looks like the car is hovering because it's so low.

Still -2 in front and -3 in rear (and zero camber wear after 8K). I thought I might have to get more camber in front after going to +5, but during the test drive, it's not rubbing so I'll leave it alone. I don't have too much more adjustment on the camber plate, I think they'll only go -2.5. I think my car is as low as BC's will go without going to the extreme low kit (shorter springs). But even that kit will only get another inch of drop I believe because spring adapters are required. I think I could go another 1/2" if I pull the remaining rear collar (1 is already gone) and one of the front collars. But I don't know if I've already bottomed out the shock body in front since there was a tiny bit of resistance right before the collars made contact. And it's not like the rear where you can pull the spring in 5 minutes. I'd have to pull the entire front assembly, disassemble, reassemble and if it won't go any lower reverse the process. I'm good with the ride height now I think, I'll measure the fender to ground tonight, but I think it's one of the lowest static FX's.

Clearance isn't too bad, as low as it is, it's still higher than a lowered car. I don't have too many clearance issues, exhaust is intact. I may have scuffed the tips once on a steep driveway. Rear GT Spec lower lateral has made contact a few times, usually on speedbumps if I go over at an angle. But the majority of the scraping is on the cats and the exhaust flex joints on the Invidia. They're tucked as high as they go, but it high centers sometimes. And the W brace has some scrape marks on it, again, nothing too major. I did destroy the engine cover, but people at stock height do that too. Only downside is that there's zero chance of running my GT Spec mid chassis brace. I had that piece on for 1.5 days and almost got my car stuck everywhere so had to pull it. Now the car's even lower.

Also interested.

For a static FX that thing sits damn low. How close are are your exhaust flanges to the ground?

EBC pads arrived yesterday so I installed them and bled the rear brakes a little. Haven't driven the FX since I heard the grinding last week. The picture explains why it was grinding. I've actually never seen pads worn this much. There was zero pad material left on any of the pads, it was just the backing plate. Never noticed any wear indicators making sounds and no warning signs until it started grinding. Maybe 12K miles so I never thought to inspect pad wear. So in the future, I'll start doing visual inspections on a regular basis.

New air filter, cleaned intake, found some play in the radiator 1/4 turn retainers. Pulled out rubber spacers, added a 3/4" rubber washer to each one and replaced. Problem solved. Had to support hood with my head so it might be time for new hood struts!

I went to turn on my FX today for a drive and nothing! Seems the very cold weather here in Connecticut finally killed my Die Hard battery. Anyways I replaced it with an Optima yellow top at the price of $230 YIKES!!! well worth it though and the FX started right up.

New battery...which leaves me to a question. Car died. Got it jumped. When It started my navigation screen wouldn't go on? That a result of the battery not having enough juice to operate it? Or something needs to go to dealer to be checked out? Hopefully the new battery will solve it and in an hour I'll take this question back
