What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

You have more guts than me, tearing everything apart!
cars are easily taken apart. I have takin apart an 86 Taurus 98 Dakota 02 Dakota 89 Porsche 911 01 slk 07 slk 2004 sl 03 350z 04 vibe 07 jeep liberty. All for radio installs. Cars are fast to put together. I worked for gm for a few months in the assembly. I also went to school for auto mechanics. Never graduated. But the newer cars I take apart the easier I find it check out the. What did you trade in thread. You'll find my 02 Dakota completely stripped. Down the metal. All seats gone carpet gone headliner gone. Only dash remained. To install a stereo

I cleaned and conditioned my seats with Lexol on Saturday. Took me about 30 minutes. Went to start the car; DEAD!! Had to jump with wife's car. And when I had the windows tinted last month and the doors were open for about 45 minutes, DEAD!! The guys at the shop had to jump it. Yesterday, I decided to test the battery with a multimeter and the voltage dropped to 8.1V when cranking. Too low! So I went to Autozone to have a load test and it came back 329 CCA. Should be 550 CCA. I called the Infiniti dealer where I bought it 5 weeks ago and nicely told them I felt a car should be sold with a strong battery. Had me come in and hooked me up with a new 84 month battery. FREE!! Sometimes it makes sense to buy a car from a great dealer. Infiniti of Elk Grove, CA rocks!

The center console on our FX's is ridiculously easy to take apart. You can get the headunit our in about 5 minutes and with only removing 6 screws.

DRKvampire, let me know how the steering wheel controls and main display work with your ipod kit. I need to upgrade my iSimple.

Subtle but nice mod. Glossy black sort of out of place there. Any plan to paint the rest of the lower body glossy black?

Thank you! Yes, i wrote in my thread that next week after i get my hands on the side skirts the lower black mouldings (side skirts, lower bumper lip, rear bumper moulding and fender flares) will be painted in gloss black.

Thank you. I wanted to test fit them on a 2nd gen but i didn't find one to try them. IMHO i think they could work. Maybe not a perfect fit but with a little trimming and modding i think it can be done.

That looks really good. A little piece of plastic and it makes such a nice difference, and like you said with the rest of the trim painted gloss it will compliment the car and the wheels as well much better.

Thank you. I wanted to test fit them on a 1st gen but i didn't find one to try them. IMHO i think they could work. Maybe not a perfect fit but with a little trimming and modding i think it can be done.

I don't know what the measurements of 2gen fenders are compared to 1st gen. But someone with some cash should try it out

^these fender flares need to be installed over the original fender trim. The original tire size is the same so the fender trims should be close matching. That made me think they could possibly work. If a US member gets his hands on these it would be easier for him to test fit them on a 1st gen FX.

Hmm interesting how they go on top of the original moldings, I guess the company who makes them did not want to make all the clips and such to allow perfect OEM fitment.

I do like the look though.

I wish I had the balls to hack up my fenders and just eliminate the black trim altogether like Rookie, Bert and Raymond have done.

They do fit perfect. They are secured with the screws from the OEM fender. You just take those screws out mount them put the screws back on and you're done. They need to be glued on top though for a secure and sealed fit.

Looks awesome man, can you take more close up pics where the fender flare meets the side skirt front and back please?
