What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Half-assed cleaning before meeting up with Kim. Anything's better than 7 months of dirt. Didn't put on new wax because I need to go back and clean up the paint better.

So I'm going Monday to get my windshield tinted. I can get the 3m crystalline which he said comes in 70 or 90% and blocks 97% of heat producing light. Or I can use the normal tint that blocks 57% of incoming heat. Keeping my car cooler especially being parked in the sun for extended hours is the main priority I think so was going to o 70% crystalline. Here's the sight (Andrew) recommended this place to me and just talking to them they have been great here's here link. Opinions?

Also I was looking at there rust proofing and they said they would drop $50 off if I do it when I get my windshield done but I know little about I and would like to hear some people's thoughts who have had it. Does it work? How long does it last etc.

Also for $100 I can get my ails sprayed. I would like to get that price dropped to like $80 if I could but still in the air about them.

Thats the site

My tint installer showed me 70% on the windshield and you can't even tell its tinted at all. It's more for function than aesthetics. The film is almost clear.

If looks and heat reduction is what your going for I would choose like 50% tint. That's what I have on my ride's windshield.

Designed to maintain the appearance of your car, Crystalline films allow up to 90% of the light into your vehicle. Because these films are non-metallized, you can be assured of zero interference with GPS or cell phone signals.

Directly from there sight? I do have a radar detector though

I am more looking for functionality for my windshield tint. I drive in poorly lit areas a lot too. So kind of leaning towards 70 but I do love how the 50% looks.

I don't remember if my tints are ceramic or not. I don't notice any issues with my wireless phone or detector either. 50% windscreen tint is fine. It's not "that" dark or anything. As for rust proofing, I think I may go the DIY route with some 3M rubberized coating or something, but haven't done much research on it yet.

What your thoughts on the tails. The rustproofing is kind of pricey. Chicago winters do suck and I park outside so feel it may be worth doing to some degree for this winter. But don't know enough about it

Save up and get the sport and modded euro tails. You WILL be happy in the long run. Tinting them is just a temporary "mod fix" and you will probably end up wanting sport tails later. I'll do more research later on rust proofing too and share it with you. Still have a few months left and have other mods to finish up first. :pumpkin:

That's exactly what my thought process is on the tails. Although it will look better than the reds now, the ultimate goal would be sports. $100 is part of the way there so kind of back tracking for that. Anyone know how much sports are? Or have seen any for sale?

Well, you know who has a set of Euros ready to go. Or keep checking eBay for a set. I also have an extra set of sport tails and headlights, but I'm reluctant to give them up at this point in time for some reason. :car:

Hahaha, who? me? Yeah I have a set of Euro Sport tails ready to be installed. I bought my Sport taillights new from Sewellparts.com. It was around $330 shipped. Most used outer Sports on ebay goes around $250 - $280 and the inner is around $170 new. Don't see many use inner! So Sewell is a great deal on a brand new set. I will work with you on my set with exchange on your red tails :wink (2):
