What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

watched in agony this morning as the fx is getting drenced from the rain as I just spent a few hours detailing it on sunday. Cant even get a full days worth of a clean car! :disapointed:

Just dropped off the grille to have it color matched. FX grille is too big to risk spray painting. My wife would kill me if the grille looked homemade.

My husband did a great job on my grill & wheels, I have to give him credit! 8 bucks and a lot of patience..

That looks pretty good. My wife is just a perfectionist about this stuff. Her last car was featured in a national magazine and won just about every show it entered. When we had stuff done, some of it had to be done multiple times. Ie, the powdercoating on the valve cover and turbo piping was slightly off, we had to strip it and do it again. Or when the body shop painted the stereo enclosures, there were some small chips that were barely visible...all that had to get redone. She also doesn't like anything to be spray painted. I had to disassemble her brake calipers for powdercoating and then put new seals and everything in because she refused to paint them. Of course the FX won't be built to anything like what we did before, but the standards still apply. It's ok though, I have the same aesthetic. I want stuff to look modified, but be done so cleanly that people can't be sure.

My husband is a perfectionist, the wheels took 9 hours and multiple tantrums in the garage to complete. He is his worst critic. We love to modify our cars but it's been a rough year. My FX was hit with 7k worth of hail while our truck was hit 3 times by hail totaling 22k, 1 tornado and one wreck. It was cursed!

Picked up a MediaBridge today. Installing this weekend. :)
Why wait until weekend:
1) Pop the radio face panel
2) Disconnect the two connectors on the back of the radio face panel
3) Losen 4 phillips & slide the radio out enough to get a handle on the connectors
4) Disconnect the connectors that matches the one on the MB
5) Connect the male MB connectors into the back of the radio
6) Connect the stock connectors into the female connectors
7) Slide the radio back in and tighten down the 4 phillips
8) Reconnect the two connectors on the back of radio face panel
9) Test and enjoy.

9 steps. :smile (2):

Why wait until weekend:

Because some of us can't take a car apart with our eyes closed... :)

But on a side note, I have a little something special planned with this. I'm going to run usb and 3.5mm extender cables from the Mediabridge to a set of sockets installed within the center console. That way you can plug whatever you want into the sockets in the console and not just setup for iPod compatibility.

Thinking of retrofitting something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Dual...=1343844765&sr=8-3&keywords=marine+usb+socket

Ah, one of those thing that I have been debating where should I permanently mount the USB port from the so I can stick a USB stick to easily. Interested to see where you ended up mounting this thing.

Im ordering some 295/45 Toyo Proxy's tonight (still riding on stock tires right now) and getting 15% tint all around this weekend. :)

Yep, I'm going to see where I can easily mount it where I won't lose storage space but also it wouldn't be a pain to get to. I like hiding the box itself, but then having connections accessible for both connection usb/aux devices as well as being able to take a laptop out to the car to update the firmware. We'll see where this goes.

How about put it next to the cigarette lighter or maybe take its place ??
