What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

The wiring is about 30 minutes which I yesterday. The actual install today took about 45 minutes. When out for a test drive and found the steering wheel was not straight, spent some to adjust the steering wheel took another 30 minutes.

Went on another 7 hour drive snowboarding adventure this weekend. The best part of the whole weekend was when there was a fx50s behind me and slow drivers infront in the single lane highway. when there was a opening i went to pass them and so did the fx50s which ended up infront of me with ease. Was awesome trying to catch up to the fx50s in winding roads. could see other drivers faces going "WTF. crazy infiniti drivers!" I tried keeping up but he and made me look silly infront of my girlfriend haha.

Thank you.

I actually have no idea. They are from infiniti for sure, probably not included in any of those packages. (or sport package?) I think there is another FX with the same rim on the forum. I know the parts manager well at the dealer so he got me this set of wheel.

What wheels are those? Looked at your garage and says 20" OEM, but what package were those included with? They look awesome.

you got a nice dealer in providing you those wheels. if you haven't noticed, they are from the gen2 M37s/M56s.

诶哟,我看得懂中文哟。。哈哈。

Yeah, I noticed they are for the M series sedan just now. Thanks for the pic upload.
The parts manager is really a nice guy, helped me out a lot to get cheaper accessories from states dealer rather than selling me his Nissan Canada parts....
Well, my name is Vince, nice to meet u on ISscene.

Now, don't take this as truth, but I believe that you are able to leave the iPass basically anywhere in the car and it should be picked up by the tolling system. That's why when they send them to you in the mail, they wrap them in tin foil to block out the radio signals from activating the units in the back of the mail truck.

There is a tiny battery inside the unit which allows it to activates, receive the rfid request, respond with it's ID and then shut down all within milliseconds as you're driving down the highway. The radio signal is at such a bandwidth that the it shouldn't really have a problem transmitting through anything in your car. The reason that they want it out is that depending on the makeup of the car, the metal structure could cause interference. There are also some cars that have a coating on the windshield that also can interfere with the signal, and that's why they have the license plate option.

Yeah, I'm a nerdy engineer. So be it... :)

i was always under the assumption that as long as you have your car registered under an Ipass it doesn't even matter if you have one because it will run the plates in the scenario that you don't have it in the car? Im pretty sure my brother (Who received our Dad's old car) didn't have an Ipass in there for a long time and it was ok because the plates were still registered for an Ipass?

Maybe I am way off though? Im sure if that is the case though you couldn't get through a toll that lifted a gate up to get by!?

Yes and no. The reason it works using the "open road tolling" is because since the IPass itself is battery powered, the battery does run out over time and they can't fine you for their device running out of juice. When you roll through an open road toll, if the antennas don't receive a response from the car, they snap a picture and run it through their system to see if you are a registered user. If it happens enough, they assume that there is an issue with the receiver and send out a request to return the IPass for service, i.e. a new battery. As for The gated toll booths, I'm not sure if the attendants have the ability to lookup license plates in real time.

At a gated toll they physically take your interior tag and place it on a reader to scan and open the gate. The exterior tags have a sticker with a bar code that they have to scan with a hand held scanner (a la supermarket/Ikea checkout). Therefore, hiding the tags behind a grill will cause a lot of problems if they don't work at a gated toll.

Good info!

Just bought an 04 yesterday, removed the dealer windshield stickers along with that HIDEOUS chrome plastic dealer emblem on the back of our car.

Continued to try and get the home link to work with my garage opener... Work in progress.....

Informed Summit Racing of my muffler defect (intense rpm-dependent rattling) and they are going to 2nd day me a replacement, free of charge, then have UPS pick up my old unit the following Friday so I have time to swap them out. I've never experienced their customer service before but I must say that so far it is excellent.

Finally switched to 8k hid's in fog and regular lights. Also changed liscense plate light... I almost tinted the entire windshield 35% but decided not to at the last minute ....I'm Still looking for 20 in stocks in the NYC area
