What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

FX looks good Ian, aren't you worried about getting pine sap on your ride.
I went out with my grand kids and cut one down from the bush this week. Wish we had snow, it always makes it nicer when we do that.

Had a tarp underneath the tree... Besides, I don't see the roof :-)

Washed off the most giant-ist seagull bowel movement off my front quarter. This bird had a very big breakfast.
I just washed my whip too. Bastardo.

Used the Dr. Color Chip set to remove some chips and scratches on the front end of my black FX. It looked like shit after I used the solvent on it and I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but then I washed the car, and you can't tell a difference. Pretty impressed.

How would it work with white FXs since our paint is 3 stage? Base white coat, then the metallic flakes and different color white, then clear....I have two touch up paints to do it different colors.

Can we see pics of before & after? Very curious how good it looks.

Unfortunately I don't have a decent camera at the moment, so no pictures. Long and short is that I had a bunch of small rock chips on the front foot of the hood and several long scratches that I attribute to the previous owner. I followed the directions on the package and cleaned the surfaces, applied the paint and wiped it across the chips or scratches with a gloved finger. I let it setup for 15-20 minutes and then used the included solvent to slowly take away the excess paint. It took some time and a bit of elbow grease, and then I finished the surfaces with a microfiber towel. After the process, there was a noticeable haze on the spots that I worked on and I figured that a good wash might help. After a wash and dry, the spots basically disappeared. If you get your face right up on it, you can still see the depressions from the chips, but from a foot or more away, they blend right in. For the price this is a better result than I was expecting.

As for the white paint, I really don't know how this would work with a metallic flake paint job. But there might be someone out there with some experience.

Looks good Ian! What percent of tint do you have on your windshield by the way? It looks dark!!

Thanks.. Windshield is only 45%, but the fronts are tinted 18% so the overall effect is darker. No issues with visibility day our nighttime.

45%?
18%?

You are crazy PM 705. Crazy man, pure crazy.

I want to get 80% windshield, 50% front windows.

I was thinking the same thing, Ian must have very good eyesight, there is no way on this earth I could see out the windows safely when driving at night

Actually...what's funny is when my parents were here...we went to go see a christmas light festival display. I was worried with all the tint it might be hard to see all the christmas lights for my parents. I rolled down the windows and both said roll them back up shouting.....too much glare! They liked how the lights looked without all the shiny glare better.

When you are driving, you don't get any glare from headlights, from lights, etc. Heck, might even be safer in my opinion. ;) 18% on the sides, that's a different story...I'm talking about windshield. I don't get glare at night or during the day, yet have no issues seeing outside the windows. 45% is really nothing, but does a ton for glare and looks.

I find at night when I am backing up and using the side mirrors, that it is somewhat difficult to see out the side windows and that is with only 35% not 18%. Quite often I roll down the window to make it easier.
