i've never seen that on an FX, it's nice, something different. i've only seen it on BMW's.It's a 10" flip up dvd player and monitor for my kids.
emotional rollercoaster
Hard wired the Unichip today. honestly it was pretty hard emotionally to chop into the ECU harness but I did it anyway. (they're just wires, right?) It took a few hours but I stopped in the middle to have dinner. Soldered, shrink wrapped, and taped all the splices, then jumped into the driver's seat to see whether or not I fried my ecu.........nothing. It turned over endlessly but didn't start. :mad.: So I took a deep breath, looked at all my wiring, and realized I had only plugged in one of the two ecu connectors. After I recovered from feeling like a jackass I plugged the ecu back in and it fired right up. Unfortunately by the time I finished it was dark and my daughter was sleeping, so a 10 second startup was all I could do. At least I can sleep knowing that I didn't f*ck anything up. Ha. Test drive tomorrow!!! Woohoo! It may have been my imagination but during the short time it was running it seemed a lot quieter... :dontknow:

Good job there tchuck. Hard work pays off. I think when your into something very tedious as wiring (especially a ecu) your bound to forget something because there's so much going on there right in front of you.

There are actually 7 wires, but it's no biggie. Once you get past the apprehension of cutting into the harness and soldering inside your car it's pretty straightforward. Luckily I'm a :ninja: with the soldering iron.
The only bit of weirdness is the fact that the wire colors are different in the FX than they are in the 350Z, so the wiring diagram Unichip gave me didn't apply directly. I was able to verify however that though the wires are different colors they occupy the same pin locations in the molex connectors. Very minor issue in the grand scheme. I think that's why I like electrical work so much. It's like a big dangerous adult puzzle.

This is the extent of what I will do. I just finished putting in some low voltage cans, event timers, ceiling fan & added larger gang boxes in the walls. It's shit hot in my attic. Not a fun job. I'll get some pics of the finished job. It came out pretty sweet.

This is the extent of what I will do. I just finished putting in some low voltage cans, event timers, ceiling fan & added larger gang boxes in the walls. It's shit hot in my attic. Not a fun job. I'll get some pics of the finished job. It came out pretty sweet.

Yep, except for a couple of bad can transformers in the mix. Swapped out some replacements & all good. Also found a bad ground underneath the house that was causing some flicker. It was the last box right before the breaker box . . . thankfully.
I was getting worried as I worked my way to it & was running out of things to troubleshoot. I guess 60 years of load can wear those connections out. Maybe I avoided a future house fire in the process. Also, very little room to work in those gang boxes. The wires are so clunky big.

Oh you can do this ^^^, you can do the Unichip hardwire for sure.
