What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

does kinda sound that way :), look on the windshield itself, you should be able to see the manufacturer... if it's Pinkerton or ppg (there are a few others who's names escape me atm) then it's a good quality windshield & may very well be made by the same manufacturer as the OE glass in some cases, but this is STILL not the same as a real deal OE Infiniti windshield.

te best way to judge the quality of a windshield is to just look through it, look from extreme left & right angles looking through it & look for distortion in the optics of whatever your viewing through the windshield... cheap china windshields can be pretty distorted viewing at some places & some angles when you look for it, quality windshields will have minimal distortion & waves & be optically distortion free for the most part

...

On the lower passenger side it says:

PILKINGTON
SOLAR

yeah, I typed pinkerton but meant pilkington... that is def a good manufacturer & they probably are the original suppliers to nissan, same way KYB supplies them struts. in that case I guess it is ok to say OE manufacturer as the fact that the particular windshield didn't go through nissan before going to you is more of a technicality than anything else, but technically it still really isn't an original equipment windshield, as nissan may specify certain criteria for there windshields that may or may not be met with a windshield intended for the aftermarket even with same manufacturer.

either way, in that case I wouldn't worry much as it's probably just about the same as an original nissan windshield, just as buying KYB struts outside is about the same as buying struts from straight from Nissan, but technically if there built intended as aftermarket they don't really have to stick 100% to nissans specs... this is why Nissan has about 5 different part #'s & specs & differences in valving depending on application for OE struts where kyb just went with one valving all around for there aftermarket release.

bottom line is it's a good windshield & made by the same supplier as the OE part & should be about the same quality as OE, but if it don't say Nissan on the glass then it technically isn't truly an OE windshield. guess it don't matter as cutting Nissan out of the loop is why the windshield only costs a fraction of what a true OE one would...

---------- Post added at 03:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:28 PM ----------

another thing to look for is a UV blocking layer... Nissan may specify this in there OE windshield & that adds quite a bit to the cost, where Pilkington doesn't necessarily have to use the same in glass intended for the aftermarket... you can sometimes see this UV blocking layer with polarized sun glasses, will have a purpley looking tint to it... most aftermarkets do not have this UV blocking layer even if it comes from the same manufacturer.

Took out the rear wiper and put the plug in.

are the brembos just like stock rotors, or there cross drilled?
Ordered some new rotors (Brembo fronts, oem rears) and finally got my busted ass windshield replaced. I had the windshield done by Precision Auto Glass for $225. That included on-site service, oem glass, sealants and primers, a 15min install time, and a lifetime warranty for their installation. Word.

wow your paint looks like its new. Did you use something in particular?

Nope just regular car wash liquid. I haven't washed my fx since before summer because its so damn hot in Houston!! I started at 7 in the morning and finished around 9 and it was already 95!

Now try detailing cars as a job in the heat! I start around 9 and finish around 2, when it's god knows how hot. I feel terrible afterwards too, heat exhaustion.
