What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

I think I'm gonna do the Kirkland one over at Costco
$60- 640 cold cranking Amps (800 cranking Amps) Weighs 38lbs though
Factory Stock is 582 CCA, & it's no lightweight either

I read CR about a week ago and those were rated well and given "CR Best Buy" or whatever. I might be going to Costco today and may just get one.

changed the oil, took out the stillen CAI and put the stock airbox in.

miss the OMPFFFF sound from the stillen, but that suckers gotta get re-oiled first. Roadtrip back to PA tonight, lets see if there is a mpg difference...

Picked it up today. 66 incl tax. They gave me 9 big ones for the old box. Gonna go put it in now. LYK

I look forward to hearing how difficult it is to install yourself. Looked kinda hard when I saw how the battery was installed. Costco trip was postponed for tomorrow so hopefully I can get one then.

Not hard. Need to remove the cover up to the windshield (just the right side) held down w/ those plastic push clips. Couple of tie-down screws (10mm), & the cables themselves, also 10s. Just make sure you remove the neg first when removing the old. On install, do the pos 1st, neg 2nd.

Started like a champ. Seems like it's got real good power straight outa the store. Had a 10/10 fresh production date.

I didn't know there was a choice there.
I'm thinking it's not, and after further research, it seems that a deep cycle is not preferred for this app.

A car's battery is designed to provide a very large amount of current for a short period of time. This surge of current is needed to turn the engine over during starting. Once the engine starts, the alternator provides all the power that the car needs, so a car battery may go through its entire life without ever being drained more than 20 percent of its total capacity. Used in this way, a car battery can last a number of years. To achieve a large amount of current, a car battery uses thin plates in order to increase its surface area.
A deep cycle battery is designed to provide a steady amount of current over a long period of time. A deep cycle battery can provide a surge when needed, but nothing like the surge a car battery can. A deep cycle battery is also designed to be deeply discharged over and over again (something that would ruin a car battery very quickly). To accomplish this, a deep cycle battery uses thicker plates.
A car battery typically has two ratings:

CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) - The number of amps that the battery can produce at 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) for 30 seconds
RC (Reserve Capacity) - The number of minutes that the battery can deliver 25 amps while keeping its voltage above 10.5 volts
Typically, a deep cycle battery will have two or three times the RC of a car battery, but will deliver one-half or three-quarters the CCAs. In addition, a deep cycle battery can withstand several hundred total discharge/recharge cycles, while a car battery is not designed to be totally discharged.

Yeah, that's it. I think with Optima batteries the red tops are normal and yellow tops are deep cycle. It's just nice to be able to drain it and not worry. Although it sounds like that may come at a cost...

Best option is to get a battery tender if the rides gonna sit, or you do a lot of shorteez.
I have one, so my car is plugged in every night. Keeps the batt at full levels all the time.
I think the Costco batt is a good deal for what it offers, and it has a great warranty. 3 yr replacement, 8 yr pro rated.
I think it has a 100 min reserve power rating.

Only thing is I have no where to plug a battery tender as the FX currently sits in the middle of a parking lot. Considering this battery lasted nearly 4 years/50k miles, I guess something is working right.

at a gas station, bumped into a volvo s40 with huge pointy bolts holding its license plate... got 2 holes in my rear bumper trim:mad.:.. volvo was intact....

Kind premature on some of this, but 'an ounce of prevention' as they say

Mobil 1 oil & filter
Changed out the belts
Drain & fill tranny a few quarts
Swapped out the rear diff w/ Amsoil lube
Tire Rotation
. . . & new batt yesterday

Now I'm ready for a dessert run

Is this the same as yours? Everything is backwards haha.

yep. same one, but I pulled off that yellow sticker. Same prod. date too.
Love the wheels. Looks finished & clean now  well, not totally clean. Can I get a wash!?

Stu, changing out the battery was a piece of cake when I had to do mine. Except I had to pull it back out because I didn't use the height adapter that the optima's need. Popping off the plastic covers was easier than I thought it would be.

I looked at her today, but didn't ride inside her.

I'll leave it at that....

Called to ask about an appointment to have my new mid chassis brace installed....I contacted Gt-SPEC and its shipping tomorrow! Also Burtman industries confirmed my order for the front vents only in brushed aluminum (very pleased about this as I didn't want the entire set).

Just need to order up my JBT BBK and I'm all set for a few more weeks.......
