What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

I don't have one, that was the point. Got the spring off without one. Of course, not I can't put a spring on, but that's ok.

Did you just remove the main nut to release the spring?!?!:eek::eek: People have died doing that... You're a brave soul Stu.

Oh please, it's not bad at all. For one thing, once the nut was off, nothing even came apart. I gave a little kick to the top of the strut and it barely popped off. Now stock springs, that's another story I would bet. Those are longer so it would shoot off farther I assume.

Wow. Your audacity is shocking. "Shoot off further" is putting it lightly. You're seriously LUCKY that the sport springs weren't long enough to fire your impact gun through your face. And why? To save yourself the $30 that a spring compressor would have cost at any auto parts store? That's cheaper than a pain killer prescription for a smashed finger... Crazy.

+1:eek.:

Apparently you aren't understanding what I'm saying. With the lowering springs, they are shorter so there is barely any tension in the spring when it has no vehicle weight on it. Like I said, even with the top nut removed, everything stayed together until I gave it a little kick.
IT WOULD NOT BE THE SAME WITH STOCK SPRINGS.

Don't condone how they did it in the vid, but that's basically it. However, I did it on grass and had someone else step on it so I had full control. Whole point is to launch the strut, thus sending the projectile at nothing. Mine didn't even launch though.

G37 loaner while getting service. I'm nervous though because I found new scratches that I didn't see before getting it, but they may not see them either. I swear when they do the inspections in the light it hides all the marks.

I've seen them get people before for stuff, but I remember noticing it so it was obvious. It has a bunch of marks all over though and only 5k miles. Those things just get beat on. I even pointed out one scratch and the guy was like, yeah don't worry about that.

Ready for the road! Thanks to Brad for telling me to tape up the fogs before my journey last summer. However, I also learned from that trip that it's best to tape everything up.

Northern California by way of Albuquerque, Phoenix, and LA.

It's painters tape so it's nothing too bad. Sometimes you get a little bit off sticky here and there, but not worse than bug splatter and rock chips galore.
