What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Detailed the FX today. Double wash, then a third because a bird shat on it while we were running some errands. Anyways, went and got a cheap orbital for 25 bucks. Used Meguiars wash and wax, Meguiars Ultimate compound, and Meguiars NXT Tech Wax. Bought some Gold Class Carnauba Plus paste wax, but forgot till after I just finished lol. I'll use it one the Ranger tomorrow.
Well here's some pics.

Which heat shield giving you the rattle? Mine was the cats. It took a bit to get them off even though they are so rusty. As for the ones in over the mid pipe areas, I "MacGyver" a piece of hard plastic with a slot; slide the heat shield into the slot cut and jam it between the underside of the body. It been working fine for two years now. It really depend on where the broke of too. It gonna be tough to get any kind of tool in there since the pipe/resonator will be in the way. Keep it in mind when time comes for exhaust mod.

Not sure how effective they really are with regards to blocking heat transmission but mine have proved to be a PITA.

People have taken off those heat shields when they have rusted to the point of rattling.

yea, im thinking im just gonna grind them off... its honestly driving me nuts.. back in the day i used to grind them off but wanted to get a second opinion just in case..

Oh in that case is easier then over the mide pipe. I would grind it off that is if you can get a power tool in there. I sharpen the end of a long flat head screw driver and just hammer it away. My cold steel chisel wasn't long enough :mad.:

LOLLL, hammer n screwdriver were the necessary tools back in the day.. grinder for some of the thick weld tacks

Currently getting my exhaust patched up. Talked with the guy for a bit and it would be too much to re-do it right, so I just need it to last a month until I get home. Sounds like Motordyne it is!

I keep wanting to look at the arc haha.

Do it.. There is a diy here on the process if you need it. Not a fan of flat black grills though, I prefer a slightly gloss on it.

TapaTalkin'

Thats exactly what i would do as well but i feel like a black grill would throw off the color of the car since it has chrome inserts around it such as the door handles and the rear door handle thing. Im still thinking though...
