What are the best headers?

??? once you start getting good flow then quiet kinda goes away... with my stillen headers & exhaust it's pretty loud, don't think I could take high flow cats too without doing xomething to quiet it more...

I love the way it sounds but I can't call cops attention right now heh. I got just under 3 months left of probationary license. Can't afford to f@!k it up.
Maybe i'll just get headers for now and thats only if I get a deal on them, otherwise i'll wait i guess.
By the way, where would you normally tap into exhaust to add a wideband sensor on FX?
I've read they should be before the cats but where abouts?

Anyone know much about this exhaust?
http://www.alteredatmosphere.com/mm...M&Product_Code=aamfxe-mftd25&Category_Code=FX
looking at the design, looks pretty sweet and having the two longer mufflers might make it quiet compared to others

A lot of reading but here is the first impressions of when the exhaust was introduced to the FX community. http://www.infinitifx.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9708&hilit=Altered+Atmosphere

Trying to remember (not sure) one member bought the exhaust but not a good review was given. Cant find the post but others might have a better memory then me.

I've been wondering about something I read.
Install footnote from stillen headers...

"*Note: The addition of headers to a stillen supercharfed FX35 will adversely affect the performance of the supercharger."

This I don't get, how would adding headers to a supercharger affect it negativly?
I would of thought it would add to what ever power the supercharger is putting out.

Roots type chargers love back pressure, with the addition of headers(less back pressure)... you will lose psi(power).

So the next question would be stainless steel or ceramic coated mild steel.
It snows alot here and salt eats sh!t up. How ever I can get the 350z ceramic coated ones for about $250 less than the stainless which is currently at $576.45 shipped

I have stainless with ceramic coat on my truck and they still look nice after 8 years of snow. Would the ceramic coat protect the cheaper mild steel and keep it from falling apart on me or would the extra $250 be woth it for the stainless? I guess I really want to know is if the stainless will last that much longer.

I know I ask tons of questions, no i'm not writing a book. =)

I have a question about headers. And since headers are being discussed here, I figured I should use this thread instead of making a new one, I hope you don't mind HYME.

Couple of questions for those with headers. How long have you had them on ? Has the increased engine bay heat been an issue ? ...anything melting ??? Thanks in advance .

I think Ive had mine for over a year?? Im sure theres extra heat.....but no melting that I know of hahahaha

yeah, guess I haven't checked recently either, but no melting that I know of either:tongue:

originally I was planning on wrapping, but have heard of header cracking from some on the g's & z's, so I just left them... best would def be jet hotting a set of stainless..

As far as wrapping goes, I've read they don't actually keep THAT much heat in.
I've also heard in cold climates wraps are bad 'cause the chance of moisture building up in them can cause the headers to crack.
I guess if they are sealed really well there would be no issue but I personally would see it as a hassle having to keep an eye on it.

Just so you all know, I'm lazy! I don't mind doing things but when I do something, I tend to not want to do it again.

Ideally Stainless steel with ceramic coat is the way to go, I could also be wrong though.
I recently read something about sterling coatings keeping even more heat in the pipes.
I'll see if I can find the website link later

...Later: http://www.jet-hot.com/coatingschart.html

...Later later: ceramic coating provides approximately 25% - 30% thermal barrier.
Jet-Hot is claiming 60% thermal barrier with their sterling coat.
