VK45 –Stage 1 Headers/JWT cams/TB/intake

Surfer acquired! Driving now, can't elaborate much but I in simple terms I guess its kind of......................AWESOME.

so glad to hear that , enjoy it my friend, and tell us all about the experience later.

Glad you have the Surfer back, but unless you post some vids you're riding a lawnmower :-)

Just returned home.

Engine no longer dies but still has small oscillations that cause surges when at a light. No in cabin smell, sound is not annoying and when you throttle up it sounds pro style. Power (untuned) is a really nice bump, shift point between 1st and 2nd makes you smile (at least it made me smile) and continues to pull like a tractor all the way up to shift. Tuner is looking at 25-30 more on the dyno. He is also fairly confident he can tune out most of the issues - idle, revs etc. but the S2 cams also effect the 56 motors in a similar fashion.

Awesome Lance! So glad you finally have her back, you must be the most patient man in the modding world. Excited to see that dyno vid I know is on the way, still have a chub from the last one.

Had to park it for the night, really looking forward to the drive to work tomorrow. I'll provide more details tomorrow.

For how much I am relived to hear that the Surfer is alive and well, you'd think I had some vested interest.

Congrats, Lance! When is the final dyno tune? Shall we resume the power figure bets? :p

I remember when I learned stick on an '89 RX-7 the revs would bounce up and down at idle when sitting at lights. Thinking back to it now I probably looked like a ricer.

Damn I miss that car. Had lots of cool features for something that old.

Thanks Tim, all support noted and appreciated. Yep, I think when the dyno day is confirmed we should re-enact the power pool. Hard to say at this time but if the tuner is correct and he can squeeze 25-30 HP more I think its should be an interesting run. Charles said they spent 6 hours on the road tuning and that it is 85% there.

The success of this tuning makes for an interesting conversation with my first tuning shop......I am planning on waiting until all the data logging is complete to approach them.

It has been said before that the tune is everything when it come to dialing in power upgrades, truer words were never spoken.

The 89 RX was a slick car. The FX now has a mild lope that is interesting, I'm sure with the full exhaust it is more pronounced. And I do have concerns of appearing ricer style.......

I wonder if I can convince the pilot to make a pit stop in the PNW on my SFO-JFK flight...

If they won't stop you may be able to hear the Surfer over the planes engines.
