Upgraded my subwoofer...

So I finally got around to installing a 12" Jl audio subwoofer, and a Jl audio amp, "WOW" what a huge difference. I installed it on Saturday, it took about 2-3 hours. As soon as I can post pics I will put some up. If anybody need's help with this or has any question's about the install just ask.

Actually, I removed the factory sub,my amp now sits where the factory sub was(in the spare tire),and the 12" is in a Jl enclosure in the trunk-hatch. Everything you need is in the stock subwoofer wiring harness, except for the power(direct from battery),and ground (Grounded to a bolt on the frame), I also ran a remote volume control to the front of the car(it is in the glove box for now). Running the wires was fairly easy, and a great upgrade. The box does eat trunk space, so if trunk space is valuable to you you may not want this option.

oh and a part number would be sweet for the 12"JL you used :) thanks

Looking forward to pics and possibly a DIY. I removed 2 powerful 10'' MTX subs, cap, and strong class d amp from the mustang and never put it in the FX...partly because I'm worried about messing with the electronics and another because I would hate to lose the nice trunk space unless there is a clever way of storing it somewhere.

Same here. I have a JL 10w3v3 sub and JL xd600/1 amp from my previous ride that is sitting in the closet. I cant tell you how many times i've decided, then undecided to install it in my FX. Hate to lose any cargo space, but I miss the clean, deep low-end of the JL setup..

The 1st gens are lucky since they have 10" fiberglass stealthbox available for around $300. In my case I had to buy an prowedge jl10w7 which will save sum space

It's a w3, but pound's hard enough for me, I haven't even turned up the gain's yet(just working in the speaker). To be honest you can only turn it up so much, before the stock Bose system get's drowned out. I love the Java interior, the dealer really pushed black on black, but I wouldn't budge, and had to wait for it to come in from Quebec, I am glad I waited.

Damn I wanted the java interior too! It looks so sexy with black obsidian.

looks very good! but i thought that you put your 12" were your sub was before inside the spare tire :P i did not now it was that big!

The amp is were the stock sub was before, I think you would have to remove the spare, and fit a custom enclosure in the spare tire well, to get anything to fit without disrupting trunk space.
