So I installed the Auxito LED plug-and-play 6500’s in the headlights this weekend, and if you buy two items you get $30 off, so I also bought the Auxito h8/h9/h11/h16 6500 white fog light bulbs. The fogs were $29 so basically you get those free.
WOW what a difference! The dogs actually serve a purpose now instead of looking like an afterthought they through on with some spare bulbs they leftover from 1985 ! The colors also match now. INCREDIBLY bright, and a good cutoff so you’re not blinding everyone. I may not be able to signal a space station, like the video shows that I posted earlier in the thread of the Aozoom projectors, but I seriously fail to see a $1000+ value in those over these. I take my 82 year old mother to dinner every Saturday night, and she was startled at how well she could see. She said “it’s as if it’s not even dark out honey! What did you do to your car?!?! Why don’t they put these in every car?” My sentiments exactly, Ma.
As far as I can tell so far, the build quality of these is on par with my $100/pair Heise LED I’ve used in my other vehicles. The only difference is on the Heise, you can loosen a tiny Allen key screw and rotate the LED panel to either have the LEDs at 12 and 6 o’clock, 3 and 9 o’clock, and any variation in between. The Auxitos came ideally situated at 3 & 9, so there was no need for that adjustment anyway.
The design is nearly identical, with one LED filament per side of the “blade”, which is far better than those bulbs with a dozen or more filaments and even ones on the end of the bulb. Those things just puke out obnoxiously bright light in every direction; the beam isn’t focused.
I also looked at a plug and play HID to D2S LED bulb option from Lasfit, and a couple eBay/Amazon no name specials like Novacar (sp?), but wasn’t going to risk it which the no-names no matter how cheap. Lasfit has great reviews and the same technology, and they’re even currently offering sponsorship for “select cars”, basically cars that they haven’t had a test on yet, and ours is one of them. The offer is 20% off purchase, but if you write up a well written review, or better yet make a video, they refund your money 100%.
The contact email for that offer is
youtube@lasfit.com if you’re interested.
I will say this: install is a breeze if you’ve ever installed clip in style bulbs of any sort, like ones that used to come on Acura.
This bulb technology has been around for a while now, where you don’t have to remove the ballasts, but until now there has always been the issue of that fat back end not fitting under the dust cover. These bulbs do away with that; in fact, they’re a few mm shorter than the HID bulbs! If you’ve never lubed the seal on your headlight bulb dust cover, it’s gonna be a bitch to remove, but when you reinstall it, just spread some dielectric grease on the gasket and it slides like butter. You should also grease the gasket on the fog bulbs if you replace them. DO NOT USE any other type of grease other than silicone based, or you gonna wind up making matters worse in the future due to petroleum base impregnating the rubber. No brake grease, bearing grease, etc guys! Also put a dab on the connectors and the connector gaskets to not only keep out moisture and prevent corrosion, but also to make your job easier next time you need to disconnect.
The packaging was great, dense shock absorbing foam inside with cutouts that keep bulbs nice and snug, a pair of white sterile lint-free gloves (not the crap latex we usually get, if anything), and a super sturdy and well made box. Instruction manual is in there as well, even though guys like us never need that crap!
I hope this helps someone, and please let me know if I should make a separate post of this write up. Thanks for reading!!! Here’s some pics:
