Unichip Installation

Hahaha, talk to Aaron this evening, I ask if he had talk/met a guy name Tim. He said Oh yeah, he came for his download cable. I told Aaron, Unichip is getting pretty popular on the IS forum. He replied "Cool man, I like it".
On the serious note, the 350Z maps works very well for the FX35. I have been running with it for 3 weeks now. Very solid map. Very snappy too.

Yeah, I've been talking to him a lot lately. They didn't have a download cable made up when I picked up my chips so I stopped by today and grabbed it.

Do you know which 350z 91oct map you're running? Here's a screen shot that shows the different versions I have...

Thanks to both of you. I've been reading as much as I can on their web page and it seems that I can get free software to load maps to my comp then straight to the unichip itself or does the unit need to be sent to them for flashing? The reason I ask is that I'm in Hawaii and shipping tends to be a REAL hassle and rather expensive

Yes, free software for the purpose of uploading new maps and I don't see why he couldn't reflashed the whole thing remotely.

Basically you 100% need the USB cable and to download the free software.

You call Aaron and he remotes into your laptop and reflashed and uploads new maps.

I will have to get back with you tonight. The maps are on my home pc.

No rush, I was just curious. I assume the "K&N CAI" is the Stillen but I think I'm going to try them all to see which one works best. Eventually I'd like to roll with one ideal 91 oct map and a valet mode. :balanced:

Yeah, I remember he ask me what type of intakes I have. Stillen and he selected "K&N CAI". I have been running with the 93 Octane map, so no experience with the 91 Octane map stored on my chip. You gonna have to report back for us then.

I talked to Aaron today to get the correct maps for my Unichip (since I bought a used one off of a friend) and I have to say he is absolutely fantastic with customer service! He didn't need to help me the way he did seeing as I didn't buy it brand new from him but he went beyond what I had hoped for. Great company to work with:tup:

Wow,

Awesome to find our there is finally an easy to use chip available for the FX. Now I just need to mod mine enough to justify it :-)

Possibly because the chip makes the engine more peppier that I tend to pedal the metal more than before, lol.
No seriously, I can't foresee any reason for the chip to jeopardize the durability of the engine. The maps on the chip adjust air & fuel ratio to run more efficiently which in turn produce more power.

I have been looking around for a Tune for my 35. I've had a couple hand-helds for my Sierra, but was never happy with them. I ended up with a Custom Tune that completely changed that truck (and I have nothing more than muffler back dual exhaust).

What have you guys seen as far as fuel mileage changes for the 35/45 respectfully?

I want to say that my fuel economy is ever so slightly better with the Unichip, but in reality the difference (if any) is marginal at best. Maybe 2-3mpg better overall? I wouldn't put money on it either way. Considering this is the performance tune, I'm pretty happy with the mileage so far.

I figured the gains (if any) would be marginal. I have a 93 octane BlackBear tune for my 5.3L and it screams + I picked up about 2 mpg.

Hi, I really want to get one of these unichips plug & play installed in my 2003 FX35. Can you guys show me where the best place to order from?
I see there are FX35 unichip for $585 (but, Tuned for Stillen Short Ram Intake, Cat-Back Exhaust???), and 350Z unichip (tuned for stock vehicle) for $525 on autoanything with 15% discount.
And there also is "Unichip Piggy Back Programmer (includes Flux Power Display)" from Andysautosport for FX35 for $706 with 5% discount.
Not sure which one I should take? Or somewhere else to get what I want?
I have a stock 2003 Infiniti FX35, no mods. Thinking to get this to increase performance and save on gas for a long run. Please give me an advice.

Call Aaron at unichip directly, just say Ed sent you...

Price and questions will be answered by him, worth your time... :)

But yes they have maps for no mods. You can run a map for performance and a map for fuel economy.

Thanks Ed, I've just gotten back from a vacation. Will give Aaron a call sometime soon.
However, I have another question...
I look around and people talking about Stillen z-tube Intake kit to improve performance a bit.
I question is... should I leave my car at stock, no mods or install that intake kit then install unichip on top of it?
I'm thinking if Aaron has a map for no mods that can performs as well as a map for Stillen z-tube intake, then why I should waste money for the intake kit anyway. Is it right?
