Very nice boss, the thread gets a little quiet and you return.......victorious. The clarity and the fitment looks tight. How is the memory, are they holding their shape? Hey, maybe you can throw them in a tanning bed for a few days to see if the UV inhibitors are holding :)

So dos this mean Dave finally gets his chili?

too soon to tell john, this new reflector will not turn yellow right? i think you should put them to the test for a few days with a light on and see how they react.

in the other hand bro gret job on the whole process of making these head lights. from coming with the inovative idea of Dual Qua head lights to creating your own system to give your customer a great product.

thanks for everything man!

they seem to be holding there overall shape ok once they cure but before they cure they are soft enough to not hold there shape really well. I had a good run of working on these alot up until past weekend but got swamped this week with crap & haven't been able to do much past few days. far as the yellowing I'm pretty sure these should be good. the supplier I got the resin from explained a lot to me about resins in general... the first stuff I used was so thin it was watery, & the thinner a casting resin is the less actual resin there is. this new stuff is very thick & is way better than the first stuff. the supplier is confident this resin is fine for what I'm using it for & is good for way more heat than a thinner resin would be. he told me that one of his customers even casts his own projector lenses from this stuff & that should see a lot more heat than the relectors will ever see

I tested a first batch one against a sample from the new resin from the first set I tried in the original mold side by side by wrapping them loosely in tin foil & then putting them into a toaster oven at ~150 for a few hours. the first ones are turning a bit brownish beige but the new resin is just white & clear with no signs of any yellowing. I also have a piece of the old & the new on my dash & see again no discoloring at all with the new resin, it should be fine. I want to try to get a set sealed up & then leave 2 sets of HIDs running in a headlight for like a day or 2 straight to really see. hadn't thought about a tanning bed test, wish I had access to something like that. maybe I can just go to my local tanning place & follow one of the girls into the tanning room & just tell her hey, don't mind me, i just want to stick something of mine in the tanning bed with you  somehow I can see that not going over too well, then again... hmm...

I have a friend at home who tans twice a week give me some of them and Ill do some tests for you haha:tup:

i dont think telling her that you want to stick something of your in the tanning bed with her would quite work.. lol lol

but hey your charm might work.. you never know..

psss, it's always been that way with jersey though,,, I remember even as a kid down at the shore having to deal with all the muscleheads that looked like they spent all there time in a tanning salon hooked up to an IV of steroids  none of them could even put there arms down, haha, we still took all there women though... something those joisy gerls just like about brooklyn boyz & there cars that go boom

if you think that full spectrum bulb is a good idea I'll try it, or I could send a few pieces to you jb if you think your friend will really take them in the tanning thing with them

...haha, we still took all there women though... ...

been pretty tied up past few weeks. even though I did say somewhere in this thread a few times now that I have no chrome bezels as most of the chrome just winded up blemished, several have still requested chrome. not wanting to disappoint anyone I now tried 2 more times last week & this weekend. now I'm officially saying here that chrome at this point is just not an option. I'm sorry, I would do chrome for you if I could, but the chrome is just too delicate for me to do this much fabrication & cutting, paint prep without blemishing the chrome, it's just not happening. I would have to remake a silicone mask & redo bezels yet again & I just can't do that right now.

at this point the only chrome pair are doc's. I did promise rubare that I will do everything I can to try & get him chrome & I will still try for him because he has sent me money for these so long ago that I just can't tell him no, but as far as the others, I'm very sorry but I just have no chrome available period.

the only choices here are all blacked out bezels like Humberto's, or black with silver trim rings, or if you wanted some other paint scheme that don't include chrome I'm sure I can paint the bezels how you want them, but I have no way to re chrome them.

in light of this, anyone who really had there heart set on chrome can of course just not buy them, no one is under any obligation if they don't want anything but chrome. I can't drag this whole thing out anymore than it has already been, & I really just need to get these out from hanging over my head for what feels like forever. I tried & tried but the chrome has just defeated me & I have no choice here but to just say right here & now that chrome is out right now.

the other thing that I have been discovering recently is guys like lightwerks & Igor from the G forums, & others are starting to see problems with LED failures... in the beginning it was all great, guys were putting LEDs all over the place, guys doing the iron man mod with LEDs all around the projector, led strips like the Audi style etc, but now that many guys have these & they have been in use for months & months, NOW is when the failures are starting to pop up. I've seen a few guys that were doing light mods & now that there all coming back to haunt them even a few guys have disappeared from the forums... imagine if all the work you did for months & months started to all come back one by one expecting to be redone... I mean many guys have spend big $$$ just for led mods, they sure expect them to last more than 5 or six months... problem is there not. I've seen a bunch of threads, a bunch of unhappy people & a bunch of problems with LEDs in headlights lately. I would never consider doing LEDs that were visible for this very reason. once one or more LEDs go out the headlight can really look like crap. at least my lights if there are any issues later with the LEDs then they could just be disconnected & they'd be as good as if they weren't there. the LEDs are dying from the heat. LEDs have a very high life expectancy but the hotter they are in use the lower the lifespan, using LEDs inside the headlights with the Hid's going & they are just being tortured & can't stand up to it for very long.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is while the LEDs look cool & all, they should not be looked at as a major feature that are a big part of these lights. the LEDs are a cool novelty yeah, but don't expect them to last several years. maybe they can, but most likely they will not unless you don't use them much. if you still want the LEDs what I'd recommend is to wire them in such a way that they are on when the headlights are off like parking lights, but then have them go off when the headlights come on. them not running while the heat is at it's highest should help them last a bit longer. either that or leave them out completely.

I'm dropping the price of the 4 led rings from $100 to just $50 for all 4 just to be fair about these, but there now as-is no guarantee. if/when they no longer work for you just disconnect them or again just don't get them to begin with, your call, I'll put them in there if you want me too but I don't want to wind up ruining my reputation or having any problems about LEDs later. it's a $50 gamble on your part as to how long they'll last, I'm just sticking them in there for you if you want me too

my reputation is worth more to me than a bunch of headlights, I'd rather not sell any than have anyone disapointed with something they have given me money for, I know many were counting on chrome & I'm sorry I can't do it right now. if you decide not to want them it's no problem at all really, maybe some time in the future I may develop a better way to deal with the chrome, but this is not going to be a priority for a while really, so right now it's painted or painted, your choice  I want to start getting these finalized, so whoevers on the list let me know what you want if you still want a pair of these. when i have your set ready I'll send you a picture of your lights & only then will you have to pay anything for these.

ha, 29 pages for me... guess theres a whole lot of BS in here too, then we have all the scientific theories & the whole black hole phenomenon thrown into the mix as well, the chilli pot mighta helped that out too :tonguey:...

577 posts in this thread, over 21,000 views... not a record though for me, my custom fx thread has 697 posts & 33,000 views :ehh: guess a whole lot of BS there too :glasses:

my all time records are on mp3car, my prior carpc thread has only 573 posts but like 339,000 views, my fx thread there has 319,000 views & only 387 posts :tonguey: yeah, whole lotta BS I guess

so will you be putting these clear reflectors up for sale at all? i've been holding off on painting the insides of the headlights knowing that you'd come thru with making these bad boys!
