Transmission Oil Fluid Change

okay I change my transmission fluid this is how you do it. first during the pan. you will need help for the second step.their is two lines that's going to the radiator.remove both of them prepare for transmission fluid to come out of the radiator and the hose.the hose that's on the right side of the radiator put it in a one gallon milk bottle. this is where the other person come in handy.while you are under the car with the line in the milk bottle have the other person turn on the engine for 3 seconds and turn it off.this will remove the rest of fluid that's in the torque converter.do this procedure until the fluid that comes out to host comes out with bubbles.when all is finished putting everything back together and services the transmission per the Manuel.for legal purposes this is just my opinion you are responsible for your own actions

Of course someone who works at a tranny shop would say that. Nothing like replacing transmissions due to a lack of maintenance. Our fluid isn't lifetime, there is a service interval so apparently the people that manufacture our cars don't share your opinion.
Transmission oil changes are a waste of money fluid should be good if your tranny shifts good leave it thats my opinion I work at a tranny shop

The intervals set in manuals are safe limits. There's usually two, first is normal conditions and then there's extreme conditions. These are both calculated in a way that you have a buffer of safety if you exceed them slightly. So your fluid may still look fine, but rather than trying to squeeze out more mileage out of the fluid, you might as well change it, and have some peace of mind.

Just like changing engine oil or air filters. I don't clean my air filter at any set interval, I just look down in there and say oh crap look at all that dust and dead bugs, I should clean this! And most people change their engine oil way earlier than they need to. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it's only like $40 for a change, engines cost a bit more.

Scythe/Phantom, I noticed you said replace crush washer on the transmission drain plug. Please tell me this is the same as the engine oil crush washer?

Personally, I would prefer drain and fill. Completel all brand new fluid some time will put the trans into "fluid shock" because of the strong detergent in the new fluid.

I agree. Also, the transmission is a sealed system. There's very little to no debris in the oil itself, it just loses its lubricity over time and heat. If you're just a daily driver with some high speed driving, I'd just do the drain/refill. If you track, then a flush is probably a better option.

Question is, how much is the flush? I know here in Canada the flush is an arm and a leg. Plus the fact most dealers don't do their job right so I would probably lean towards doing a drain and refill, at least I know my car's safe.

I just us bought the car a month ago. My best friend is a Nissan/Infiniti master tech. He will do the flush for free, or cost of fluid.
It is a daily driver that I'll do the usual bolt-on mods and such. Just overly anal on the maintenance of my vehicles

In that case just do the flush, while you're at it, change the differential oil, front and back if it's Awd, or just rear if it's rwd with synthetic. Makes quite a difference, smoother, quieter.
