ticket for tinted front windows

I would say the winter bc when you get the windows tinted they are supposed to be left closed for a few days.
 
imo, summer because then you can roll them up and down faster since the tint adheres faster and is ready sooner. On a really hot summer day it would be ready that day. If during the winter with no heat at all and freezing temperatures, you'll spend days waiting (maybe even like 7) for the tint to finalize or risk tearing it off.

If you need to open your window for drive through, toll, cop pulled over, etc....the longer the period the worse imo.

CA now also went from a $10.00 fix it ticket to a $50.00 fine. Still does not go on your record unless the cop checks a box that it will, I had this happen in my local home town where we would just have somebody sign the ticket off, never fix and get pulled over a week later by the same cop. Luckily after the point on my record, he was moved to another district. I guess when he pulls over local people with power they did not like his attitude either lol .
 
Thought i would share my experience:

I got a tint ticket in downtown Cleveland when i had my TSX that had 20% all around. The officer metered it at around 16% and gave me a ticket. He said i would have to have it removed or could go into court for it. I went to my Dr. and had him write a perscription for window tint on my car because of severe migrains from sunlight - and had him mention sunglasses alone dont help while in the car. Went to court and showed the judge the perscription and the ticket was dissmissed.

My windows got tinted in the FX already and ive only had it going on two weeks now :-)
 
Congrats, Skyfox...NY state only allows a few specific medical conditions for tint waivers and migraines are not on the list. =P

Hmm.. this was a few years back. I've always had my windows tinted (it just 'feels weird' without it now!) but that was the first time i had ever been stopped for it. Ill have to check what the current conditions for Ohio are regarding waivers and see if its the same.

There's an actual license plate that indicates tint is allowed on the car. It's given by the dmv if your doc submits a form indicating need and diagnosis.

Need this for Cali. I have tint. Got a ticket about a month ago. Have to decide what I want to do before the end of June. Crappy thing is I did nothing wrong to prompt being pulled over other than the tint. It was a Sunday and I was driving with my family. Cop was just bored.

I see SOO many other cars with darker tint than mine. No issues. I want to fight this but I know I won't win.

I will probably end up taking it off then have it reapplied with a slightly lighter tint after the ticket is dismissed.
 
Sucks that we get tickets but I figure it's a part of looking gooooood! =P

I double checked the Ohio Administrative code 4501-41-05 and it looks like ohio lucks out- it doesnt actualy list specific physical conditions - you just have to have a licensed physician or optometrist sign that you have a 'condition' that makes the 'sunscreening material' necessary. I was suprised when i told my doctor that the sunlight bothered me while driving so i had my windows tinted but i was afraid i might get stopped/ticketed - he pretty much offered to write the prescition to avoid any hassle i might get.

Not sure what CA laws are but its worth looking into...
 
CA doesnt give exemptions for medical. I checked last month :-) Most I can get away with, legally, is 70% tint. Even that is stretching it because it must be from the factory (tinted glass) versus dealer or aftermarket add-on.

While I have tinted windows, I totally disagree with your train of thought here, I see it as the cop doesn't need any other reason to pull me over but the tint and if he/she chooses to do that it's his/her job to enforce the law that's written. But I do agree that it sucks that pick and choose who to enforce that on
 
I do see your point. I also see there are MANY others out there that cops choose to ignore. Typically, these type of infractions would be add on's to speeding or other issues. I could also see that if I looked suspicious that it would be just cause to pull me over. But again, it was a Sunday afternoon and I was clearly with my wife and kid driving the speed limit at a safe following distance.

I do not disagree that a cop is doing his job for enforcement but it becomes less of an enforcement when they target certain people or vehicles. Trust me, I have the utmost respect for law enforcement, but go get people that are talking on cell phones, speeding, or are reckless driving.
