Was changed towards the end of 2009, September I believe.. Sad thing is that some cops still don't know the rules; or just pretend and still give tickets.

It's illegal, but I have it done and don't regret it a bit... Just don't go lower than 45% transmission.

I don't regret it either. I have 50% on my windscreen too and I also have no front license plate. I take chances every time I drive, but still worth the risk. I feel cops leave me alone just because of the color of my car. They're not interested. :hahaha:
 
the tint laws are crazy in NY,basically NOTHING is legal for coupes or sedans.rears are legal for SUV'S...like wtf is the difference....its such a bs law..basically a money maker for the city..i tint cop cars almost everyday..why is it ok for them?then wtf is the deal with one ticket for EACH window?u dnt get a ticket for every mile over the speed limit for a speeding ticket!i really wish they would come to a sensible agreement....some new benz's and BMW'S come with factory glass that meters darker than legal limit....why is that ok? noone stads up to argue..we just givin in and pay...wish someone would stand up and fight it...i tint almost 10 cars a day and im noticing alot more calls with ticket issues...not good.....
 
You said it JT. I wish the enforcement was more uniform and consistent but it is what it is for now.

We got to pay to play until things change either for better or worse.
 
Finally decided to remove my front tint, which is probably too dark to try and get away with it, and have the ticket signed off. I will install tint again but slightly lighter. Still irks me that I have to do this, although understandably illegal, when this was the only reason to be pulled over and I bet there is no less than 1 in out of every 40 vehicles in my area has as dark or darker tint than I do.

Oh well, guess it was not my lucky day.
 
I havent got any tickets on the FX tint yet, knock on wood. I just got the entire windshield done with 35% tho. I love it! ZERO glare. Lets see how long it lasts!
 
I wonder if it is possible to get a doctors excues, you know for those that have overly sensitive eyes/ migranes? Or albinos should be able to get it. I am not the latter, but the former sure describes me. I can't even look at on coming cars or I could get atunnel vison, which is a precursor to a migrane.
 
You sure can get a doctors excuse, atleast in the the state of Missouri. Your doctor will have to give you a note and then you go to the DMV and present that note for a sticker to put on your windshield.
