So what you will need is a standard coat hanger. A 3/32 drill bit. A pair of pliers to bend the coat hanger & a dremmel with cutting bit or shop cut off tool & plastic weld apoxy. So all you basically need to do is drill a hole on the inside of the lil bracket that has the spring on it & then cut out guide channels for the coat hanger wire piece to sit on there stronger then once youve got it all lined up mix some plastic welder apoxy & smooth it out on top of the inner gaps. Let it dry then carefully open up the cup holder piece while you pop in the spring loaded piece back in. Then youve got yourself a new cupholder!

Thanks for sharing!
Anytime! I felt everyones frustration once my drinks kept spilling because of this issue & i coudnt find a used one without buying the whole center console. So i figured id rig something up.

Nice fix. Thanks for sharing.

Mine had the lid not locking anymore and is now permanently open. Anybody did a DIY on it here?

What are the cup holder ends? My issue is the cup holder assembly won't stay up. I don't even remember how it functions but I want to try to fix it. Either the spring breaks or.... something else the springs go up against?
