The Random Question Thread

Where is the thread or the info on that front plate bracket that screws into the front tie down location? (pssst.. Handy Andy, you out there??) I'm remembering some info about redrilling some holes to center the plate instead of the natural off-center that the bracket provides.

Does anyone still make the black badgeless first gen grilles? If not I'll have to paint mine soon but would rather have a new one

Are HID conversion kit bulbs replaceable? I have the DDM kit if that matters. Getting new headlights and wanted to swap the fog light bulbs to the same color, but didn't know if that was possible. It seems that they do make H8 HID bulbs though, which is the bulb type I have and ordered for the kit. I just didn't want to have to swap out the whole kit with the ballasts and everything.

Dammit, already placed the order so it would ship out today lol. I figured they were, but all the pictures I see show them already wired up. They have free shipping so it's not too big of a deal to place another order. I don't use my fogs much though so it's not a huge issue. I bet I'll finally get them in about 6 months...

Reminds me, I need to get a new bulb for the side reflector in the taillight on one side. Gotta track down what kind of bulb that is.

Thanks for the reply. :good:

^ the new Morimoto H8 HIDs are socket type bulbs that can be mounted on and off the wire harness easily unlike their older first gen release. Check my garage. I posted a recent photo when I replaced an old flickering HID bulb. Though I may have to go in there again and probably had to replace the ballast. The new bulb is flickering again so I supposed the ballast is already shot.

Good call, you're talking about this right? The bottom one is the old style, and ordering new bulbs wouldn't work for a replacement since they are attached to the wires?

Maybe I should just order a new kit. They are expensive though. I got Diode Dynamics D2S bulbs since that's what the Z has already and they seem good. Bulbs were $40, kits are $150. Looks like TRS is about the same.

If I remember correctly, you don't need the rubber grommet in our installation. The bulb is held in place with the spring clip and it sealed by the red/orange seal at the base of the bulb.

^ Correct. The rubber grommet is useless. I never bothered to cut them off for a cleaner look. LOL

TRS bulbs are also $40. I bought my kit back in 2012 for about $120 if I remembered right. They had it now for about $150.

I have 230,000+ miles in my fx35, new tires still shimmying at slow speeds and about 70 MPH?
i can't be the only one. What's the first thing to check, after having the tires re balanced?

Anyone has info on what type of connector is the one on the left? Its off the 1st Gen FX antenna. Most aftermarket uses what's call the Motorola style connector.

The adapter to convert it to the bigger Motorola style? That might work. What's called?

Did you have them road force balanced?

Any worn out suspension parts such as struts, shocks, ball joints, stabilizer links, inner/outer tie rods? Any play on the wheel bearings?
