The Random Question Thread

ahh crap. i think the markings on my snow tires wore off. how do i figure out which to put where
If they are directional, there will be a rotational direction moulded right into the tire. Just make sure you put them on the right side according to those permanent markings, and don't worry about having them on the front or back.
Get yourself a good tire chalk so you can mark them better for next time.

Hey I have a question... recently while driving on the highway at speeds of around 60 or higher when going around curves towards the right it seems like my fx jerks more like if it wants to pull more that way but when doing towards my left at those speeds my fx is normal. Does anyone have any idea what that could be? Last thing that I changed out was a upper strut bearing on my driver side. Its kind of scary when my fx does this.

Lol, no cats or possums in there. I know its something with the suspension on that side. I'm gonna have to take it all apart and see if anything looks worn out. Thought maybe someone encountered this or a similar issue and could point me more or less to what it could be. Feeling frustrated about it.

I could only suggest checking the individual toe-in or out in your front alignment. Seems a little odd that it is only at highway speeds

quick question people i don't know if anyone can help me but yesterday i swapped out my intake for the factory intake. However the issue i had was that the bolt that holds the intake to the inside of the drivers side bender broke and now i cant take it off. The question i have is does anyone know where i can find the piece where that particular bolt goes in. I figured that might be the easiest way to fix the issue instead of trying to get the bolt out which i can't.

I was thinking of that but was leaning more towards just buying the small piece that holds it.

I have somewhat of a dumb question, I have my stock fx exhaust tips saved from when I had my invidia exhaust done. Do you guys think they would sell if I put them on ebay and if so what would they be worth or should I just continue to hold on to them even though I don't need them?

It's not something I would normally go to ebay on. Local Craigslist and online forums yes.

Exhaust tips kinda are universal. All depending on the diameter. I know some guys put altima tips on the g35sedan because inlet was the same but outlet was a nicer size that filled up better.

Knock sensor bank 1, is that under the intake plenum and is it the drivers side or passenger? I think there are 2 under the plenum right, on the fx35.

Based on this, I believe bank 1 is passenger side.

I really hope its not your knock sensor. Per the FSM, there is one knock sensor in the VQ35DE and its bury deep under the bottom intake manifold collector. To get to it you have to remove the upper and lower plenum, remove the fuel rail and injectors, and lastly the lower intake manifold collector to get to it.

Here is the picture of the knock sensor from the FSM

Ah yes I remember a guy having to change his because a mouse or something had chewed through the wires. He had pretty much the whole engine apart it seemed like.

That plenum stuff really isn't that bad. The fuel rail is the only sort of difficult part and if you're careful you can pull the whole thing with the injectors still attached.

I also might have a good knock sensor in my vq parts pile. I'll check.

I didnt have a cel on but knew from before that I pulled a code for a knock sensor bank 1 low voltage or something like that. So I was wondering if its something that I really need to do, I mean it doesn't even make the check engine light come on in the dash.
