The Random Question Thread

I already pm'd Aiya and soon but they weren't 100% sure and I tried to pm turbo but his inbox is full :( so I'm running out of options.

It won't fit, unfortunately. The brackets are different. Same thing with the Brembo Gold BBK from 350z.

Mine was off of an FX so I didn't know for sure one way or the other. Sucks that it seems like it won't work.

Anyone with an aftermarket exhaust ever tried doing a bumper tuck?

I don't know that it's physically possible like it is on the Z's. I would like to be able to though.

I believe it's all empty space up there though.

Yeah, it looks nice, especially with just a single exhaust. I'm just wondering if with the FX being higher up it wouldn't look as nice, as well as depending on how the bumper lines up. I also wonder if the lower unpainted parts of our bumper is as flexible as the 350Z bumper.

So after looking under the FX and comparing to the Z DIY for it, there's a couple things I noticed. Since the difference between the two tip locations, we have a longer underhang of the exhaust, since both bumpers extend underneath to the OEM muffler. What this means is that the Z has a couple tabs that hold the bumper, while we have what seems to be a metal frame that hold our bumper extension in place. Might make things easier though as simply bending that frame would pull that part of the bumper up and all the mounts already exist.

At first I thought our bumper was too sturdy to bend, or even move really, but I felt underneath and found the metal frame on top. Our bumper sits a little higher though it seems, and I could see the bottom half of my cans as is. It also seemed like one half of the bumper was hanging lower, which suggests that maybe it is doable.

The "bumper extension":

Metal frame thing, could either bend them, or mount them up higher, which would pull the extension up and away from view more:

I only saw this mod recently on my350z so it is interesting to see you guys all of a sudden talking about it.

The problem I see is stretching of the plastic leading to discoloration, or weird deformations in the lines of the upper portion of that plastic portion.

I think with some heat it will most definitely be possible to get the look, but I certainly am hesitant to be the first to try...

Yeah, Z/G's have different brackets. They need an adapter to run Akebonos while it's a straight bolt on to the FX.

Ya I thought that I could just buy a bracket so that it'll work on the fx but it was a no go. :(

Out of curiosity is there a difference between the FX version of the RareJDM harness cover and the 350/g35 version?

They all have different part numbers:

FX-RCVRP

G35-RCVRP

350Z-RCVRP

Only reason I ask is because the G35 and 350z polished versions are 15 bucks cheaper...

Asking everyone with aftermarket y pipe. How's yours holding up? How long have you had it?

I had a Megan one for a couple years. Just got dirty, but otherwise no issues. Been sitting in the garage over a year now since I swapped exhausts.
