The Random Question Thread

Bloody as hell.

Sorry to break up the meat discussion (er, that doesn't sound right...)

I am looking at replacing tires and stock 20's on my 2005 FX45. Someone local is selling a set of 2011 OEM 18" split-five spoke wheels with stock 265/60 Bridgestone Duelers w/ 7,000 miles on them. They're a steal of a deal ($250 for all four) and, presumably, will buy me a few years. Problem I see is that the offset is different and will move the inside of the tire 10mm closer to the strut housing (and, yuck, further away from the outside of the wheel well). 10mm seems like maybe enough to cause some rubbing. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I just pass up the deal, and put the $250 into a set of Yoko's and be done with it?

Most people swap from 18's to 20 or 22's not the other way around;)
Also most would prefer to move wheels out not in so they have a flusher look.
Pretty much everything about this deal is backwards from what everyone here strives to accomplish.
I would stay with the 20's or look for some 22's. Just my opinion.
But if you really want 18's I have a set of oe's I'll trade for you 20's :smug:

offset of these wheels move the tires in 10mm closer to the strut should not be a problem.

Get the 18s you can always sell them or use them as a winter set. Thats too much of a steal to pass up!!

Thanks fellas. I determined it was going to be easier to deal with media blasting and repainting the current 20's than dealing with the odd offset, goofy stance, and smaller wheels.

Pork and beans. I totally agree. The great price (with baby-related expenses adding up) made me a little delusional. I appreciate everybody's feedback and quick responses.
