The mystery of moving driver's seat

this is horrible, started end of 2011 and ended march 2012 ... is presto still with us? i hope so, but time to go after some crappy dealers ... there's no excuse, it's a hard mechanical device, and if electrical it can be determined easily - i took my drivers seat out just to see what was under there ... since it's used ... nothing and all mounted well

I know this does not answer your question directly but I had the same problem. Brought it back to the dealership a week ago and they put new seat rails in....problem solved. I also asked if there's some type of reacall on this they said no.

I also feel a slight jerk in the seat when I brake hard, but the jerk isnt until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. I'm taking it in!

i had the dealer replace the rails as well. Did not go away. Anyone remove the seat, themselves, to asses the problem? Anyone think it might just be the internal heat/cool system moving around and thumping the seat, giving a "moving" sensation?

I removed the seat in my 1st gen once for an unrelated issue and found a broken diagonal cross brace in the lower frame (between the rails and the seat cushion). I JB Welded it and it completely cured my seat wiggle.....for about two months. That was a couple years ago. If I get some free time soon (ha) I'll pull it again and do a proper fix either with bolts or real welding. In any event, I'd guess that's your problem. Take a look under the seat from the rear passenger footwell. You'll probably be able to see and inspect the lateral bracing.

I have the same, annoying click when I brake and come to a complete stop. It feels like something is loose inside and it makes sort of a "click" noise along with a quick rock. Its predominantly on the left side of the drivers seat and does NOT happen when I am on the passengers seat. Took in to dealership and they replaced the bottom rails for me, issue came back 2 months later. I brought it back in for oil change and they changed the REAR panel of the seat and got a call from shop foreman. The foreman said this was "Normal operation" as the seat has lumbar support and the click will always be there. I have driven the QX70 and another FX35 to find that click has never been there.... My service adviser simply told me to take it up to Infiniti HQ because that was the expert opinion of the shop foreman at Warren Henry Infiniti in Miami.

I am so annoyed by this and it seems that now, I have to either take it up to HQ or waste my time opening up the seat myself to figure this out. Why do we pay good money for these cars again?

I guess luck of the draw. Seems I always get all the funky issues with Infiniti. G35 burned oil, EX35 had transmission replaced, now this seat feels like I have loose internals.....

I just saw this. For the record, my 2010 does the exact same thing. Driver's seat and it feels like it's coming from the left side rail. I have a trust issue when it comes to dealers and I know that all are not the same so I opted to just live with it. It's very minor and doesn't happen all the time and I didn't want to take it in just to have them possibly make it worse.

I too have the same issue. The seat rocks a bit when coming to a complete stop. Had it on our 2010 too. There's no way to avoid it! It will find you one way or another.

I dont know if it would make a difference. Look at the oil burning issue they had for the UPREV engines, even at the dealerships they still dont openly admit it.

The rocking of the seat is still there but wife drives car most of the time. She is much lighter than me (110 pounds wet) and she does not experience the issue. I am 5 foot 10, 190 and can feel it though.......

I am having the same issue with my 2013 FX37 with 10k miles. I just dropped the car off at the dealership. Let's see if they will fix it or not.

The dealer is now saying that this is normal, citing other cases where replacing the rail didn't actually fix the issue. The fact that there isn't a TSB out for 2009+ FX also doesn't help. I am following up with HQ now on this. Stay tuned.

I had my rails replaced by South Motors Infiniti. Julio was the best! He really helped out and now my seat issue is gone! No more rocking or movement, everything is solid. If it wasn't for the team at South Motors, HQ was my next stop

I'm having the same issue with my seat. Is this normal for these vehicles. I only have 29k

New to the forum, FX's, & Infiniti. I purchased a 2011 FX35 AWD last week. It has 46000 miles with a warranty that expires next November. I too have this problem! I noticed it a couple days after purchase.

I plan to have the dealer service the front and rear differentials since it appears per their records that it hasn't been done, so I guess I'll mention it to them then. I also have the hesitation in acceleration too.

My fx will be going in for this problem and because the locks screeches when it unlocks. Dropping her off on friday and picking up a loaner.

If they don't get it fixed after three time mention "lemon law" and head on down to the DMV :D

In any case I have never had this issue in my FX. It would drive me nuts. I find it shocking that a seat that moves at ALL during driving is not a priority fix.

It only started happening not too long ago. It gets annoying after awhile.
