The Definitive OCC thread; aka Oil Catch Can, Oil/Air separator

Fuel injection hose.
You disconnect the one hose that connects the PCV valve to the vacuum port
Then get two fuel injection hoses (->)
PCV valve -> OCC -> Plenum vacuum port

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE DIRECTION OF YOUR OCC.

Thx man...I will pick up the hoses from pep boys...so how do you determine the direction of the OCC?
Are there any pics on here of the pcv valve? thx again

There should be arrows.

This is a great thread but most of the pictures in the first post have died, greatly reducing the usefulness of the thread. Would it be too much to ask to have them put back up? Reading the descriptions is great, but pictures would be even better :)

I don't think a catch can is worth $150+, especially if you're going to use two of them, so I'll probably be buying a $28 unit off Amazon made by Ruien:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XK9PTP7/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A2HWT7UACZN69P&psc=1

At this price, I wouldn't mind buying two for the FX since that's the better way to go, but I would really like to see pictures of how other people have run two and how they tee them back together. Can anyone post up pics of a two can setup?

I don't think anybody can put back photos. These are all old links to old storage accounts that have gone away over time. The photos are probably gone if the link is still there but not showing anything.

Unfortunately photos of my setup wont help you very much because you cant see any of the routing. But maybe I can still link up some photos.

Single Can installed on PCV side

Dual can setup on Turbo Big Red - both cans routed to intake after the filter.

Dual can setup on Silver - both cans (right side of photo) routed to the intake after the filter.

Thanks for posting! I'm most interested to see how you combined the two exit hoses before dumping back into the intake. How are you doing that?

Im not. Both lines have their own fitting on the intake tube. The key is no restrictions so if you T together the lines, you are reducing the flow capacity by half.

Ahh, gotcha. Does the stock intake tube have two holes for that, or would I need an aftermarket intake to achieve that?

No, the stock intake has only one vacuum line but there's no reason you couldn't add a fitting.

Best site ever for making your own intake - any size couplers, clamps, vacuum lines, fittings, etc..
Intercooler Pipe Fabrication

If you just get a new silicone coupler to replace your OE coupler, you could then add one of these guys for the second vacuum source. Or install 2 of them, and cap the original vacumm source on the OE intake.

This is what they call a silicone port system - you would need to add one. I've used these on other cars.
Silicone Port System

HOWEVER...
This is probably too much time, money and effort on a stock car. No real benefit for dual catch cans in a Naturally Aspirated setup, so you would simplify it a lot by just using one can on the PCV side. Remember once you install a can... you gotta empty it with every oil change. Most Jiffy Lube places or even dealerships, wont know they need to do that.

Great post, thanks for the links! The PCV is on the PS, right? And Jiffy Lube?? Not for this FX!

I’m about to tackle a occ myself since I found oil when I was changing my spark plugs a few weeks ago.

Actually that's a completely separate problem - you need a new valve cover gasket or all new valve covers.

An OCC stops oil from going back through your intake but there is still oil mist inside the valve covers at all times.

I order new valve covers with gaskets, 5/16 Motordyne Plenum spacer, and the occ.

The inside of my intake and throttle body is dirty with oil... it’s wise to add a catch can to both sides in order to really cut down on burning oily air.
