Tail Light

Sup,, anybody knows how to remove the 3rd break light on the spoiler and the break lights that are int the trunk? i want to paint them, but i dont want to paint them there i want to remove them to paint them with Plasti Dip! thanks!!

The backup lights are super easy. Remove the two small covers on the inside side of the hatch and you'll expose two bolts. Use a 10mm elongated socket to remove. That's it. Don't know about the 3rd brake light.

Crap, just noticed you have a 2nd gen. Nevermind the advice. I really gotta get off these pain meds. Good day

lol thanks man, i knew that one, the one i don't know how to take of is the backup revers light... ahhh i can't find a way! or the spoiler light...

Isn't plasti-dip opaque as opposed to a Nightshades type product which is translucent? You might not want to use plasti-dip on lenses......

Service manual says you have to remove the entire interior trunk trim and lining.

Oh and don't plasti dip your tail lights, it will look horrible like that. Plus the light will not shine through at all!

i read the entire thread and couldn't find any info about plastidip on tail lights. i don't know where you're going with this...i highly doubt that you're right.

EDIT: at best, use only a single coat of plasti dip on the tails.

You gotta take push in the little clips for the interior trim on the liftgate, pull out the outer piece of the clips and then gently pull back in the edges of the plastic trim. Its not too bad just try not to break any of the clips.
And I def wouldnt use plasti-dip on the taillights. I'm sure you can easily peel it off but I doubt its transparent enough for the light to shine through and the last thing you want is someone rear ending you because they didn't see your brake lights.

& thats not plasti-dip on the tail-lights on that G, that looks to be painted with clear and black paint like I had done. Looks like he did his emblems, wheels and the roof with plasti dip.

Bubito, didn't you remove your lights when you got them painted or did the shop do that for you?
