So I'm getting my Navigation updated on Wed.

Two words --> Google Maps!
Of course, if you have an Android and a car charger than you're in good shape. I've pretty much given up on my nav unit, it's so embarrassing how it can almost never find hyphenated addresses and even my own home address it can't find. Just a thought- I know this thread wasnt debating the value of stock nav units.

I think it's the 2011 version instead of the 2010-2011 version...best to just ask the dealer. I haven't been to mine yet so I haven't asked about it. Let us know what they say if you talk to them.

Have anyone get any news about the 2011 map update yet? Mine is really suck, especially the "point of interest" database...

Navigation update just came out today.

version 8.5 - 2012

updates include:
New roads and recent address changes
Know optimal routes to your destination
New points of interest and NEW see what located at the next exit, even if the exit sign doesn't show it.

Aaron, did you ever get the update, or were you waiting for this one?

Does anyone have peoblems with their gps when a destination is up? My total distance to a destination will be like 7 miles but in the route information it will total like 40 miles? A little thing but the nav updates aren't cheap and it bugs me that it doesn't work

I don't have a single issue with my nav.

No haven't done it yet since I found out this one is coming out. Now that it's out im definately getting it! Jonas you have a link on that?:top:

If some could make a DIY thread for the DVD update process, that would be helpful. Thanks!

I find the GPS is just to ridiculous to operate. On my end it won't recognize something like West Bypass Street if typed in as such. It always wants to resort to bum f*****d Egypt instead of my local area. If I shortcut to W. Bypass St. then it might work....sometimes. My wife's Garmin outperforms my Navteq system easily.

2nd gen navigation is different than the 1st gen so I never experience that. lol mine always finds whatever I need it to with no mistakes.

I emailed you the email I got. They are really advertising the "Plus, the latest Infiniti map update will show you what’s located at the next highway exit." That's pretty neat if this is a new feature. The email has a phone # if you want more details regarding it.

Thanks just got it! Getting this done on my next oil change :top: That new feature that shows you what's coming up at the next exit sounds pretty cool.

So I'm at the dealer right now and since I have 2010, I have to buy the DVDs ($199) first and pay the dealer $130 to update the system. The $130 install fee doesn't make sense if all they are doing is inserting DVDs into the CD player.

Has anyone done the update for 2010 and up yet? Just want to know if I can do the update myself and save $130.

Thanks,

John

^^ doesn't seem right.. I would just buy the dvds and try to do it yourself.. I'm sure there's a diy somewhere or just need access to the special menu.. In the end, youcan always go back to the dealer and have them do it.

Thanks, I think that's what I'll end up doing. I'll post if it a simple plug and play update for the 2010+

I just got the latest 2012 version in the mail yesterday. It's 4 disks and a good hour and half of time depending on where you live. I have a 2011 FX35. the disks I got from NAVTEQ with Infiniti branding. Comes in a nice case with easy to read directions. Also includes other software upgrades.
