FWIW, I run a Pure ONE 14610 in my FX35. It's about 1/2" longer than the 14612 which is spec'd. Handily, it also fits my RX-7 which happens to also be spec'd for the shorter 14612.
+1
There was a really detailed technical write up about filters that came out here a couple years ago. The long and the short of that long thread was how much better PureOne filters were than almost anything on the market. This was based on the physical filter media quality and testing at Blackstone oil laboratories.
Since that time I have been using only PureOne - until I switched over to the Canton Racing cartridge system. The biggest advantage to this system is first and foremost - the flow rate. All commercially produced oil filters (including PureOne) have a built in bypass that allows oil to flow around the filter rather than through it. This bypass valve opens at high pressure, which is caused by a high revving engine (rpm drives the oil pump) OR a clogged filter. Or crappy filter media that doesn't allow oil to flow through it fast enough.
The Canton Racing design simply does not have a bypass. Instead, it is a high flow model capable of flowing large volumes of oil. My theory was that I was pretty much losing the benefit of a filter as soon as it was in bypass mode. I wanted my boosted motor to never see unfiltered oil.
Purely by chance, the same Infiniti FX35 filter also fits my 1995 Mazda Miata. So I still purchase the PureOne 14610 (like provels said) for my Miata which is actually spec'd for the Nissan Titan. Based on my own reading, The PureOne 14610 is the best quality, largest volume OE style filter.
