Anyone else disappointed with the 4 oz size oil filter on the V6 and V8 engine?
I use WIX Filters in ALL my "machinery", and have for years. I get mine from Rockauto.I owe a corvette, fx 35, dodge hemi, scag turf tiger, john deere 4200, yanmar 336d, and jd mower, and like you i do all my owe maintenance.inside my 30x40 building. The lord has blessed me over the years and he also blessed me with common sense. Enough said. Have a nice day.
I understand and agree--I wonder how many people actually think the engines are the same in the showroom as they are in NASCAR??Maybe you are not understanding what I am saying. Never said Wix filters are bad, they make a good product. I also don't know why you are avoiding my questions, but that isn't a big deal. For all you know, Wix is paying Nascar and signed a contract so that they use their filters. They are probably replaced after every race, so it's not a good reference to how well the filter works. Only it's ability to take harsh punishment for a short amount of time, aka the exact opposite of what we need from an oil filter in the FX.
My point is just that what works in Nascar may not be the best thing for a daily driven car. Racing engines are way different from normal engines. And you never know if what they use is the same thing we can buy as a consumer. It's just like saying, well Pirelli makes the tires for F1, so I should get Pirelli's. Pirelli makes a great tire, but you are not going to run the same tires as they do on an FX.
You should check out Jumbosrule thread, and see his oil filter set up. It's pretty nifty.
I'm totally going to run NASCAR tires from now on. I heard they add at least 200hp, but only if you're going straight or turning left.
