slow acceleration HELP PLZ!~

hi guys

So, long story short, i have an 2010 fx35 awd. About a few months ago, i took my car to the dealer, and told them how i fell vibaration on steering wheel when the car is idle. They took my car in, after an hour or so, the service advisor came out and told me, the tech was unable to fell any abnormal vibration, but he found a TSB, which is TSB 10-042, and he reprogrammed the car's ECU to DE97AA HD 32. 0.3 HR. While driving home, i felt the car became much quieter when accelerating, but i also felt a little lack of power compared to how it was before. (vibration on steering wheel still exists)

Anyways, i did a few 0-60 tests on DS mode with floored gas, up shifts in red line. i was shocked with the results, its takes 9.5 SECONDS. (around 9000 miles current reading, 9/10 tank of gas, fresh mobil 1 5-30w, normal tire pressure)

I looked up the TSB 10-042 online, it is actually for:
• Engine hesitation at idle or very low speeds.
• Engine speed drops lower than expected when decelerating or coming to a stop.

I have never had these two problems, i seriously have no idea why the dealer think this would address the vibration on steering wheel.

Going to the dealer tmr, can any of u plz tell me if it is the ECU reprogram that slowed my car, or its irrelevant. Thanks.

try unplugging your negitive battery terminal for an hour or two, that will reset your ECU to factory learning mode.

dealer said tsb 10-042 applies to all 2009-2010 FX35, it would not decrease perfermance... and once ECU has been reprogrammed, they cant downgrade it....?

Normally if you feel vibration at idle it means the vehicles rpms are too low. Seems to me like the dealer just wanted to program the ecu to run higher rpms at idle and it somehow messed with acceleration.

thats what i thought... but b4 the ecu was reprogrammed, the idle rpm was even higher, now its between 600-650

I dunno man. If I would spend 50k on a car I'll demand a new ECU or something.

If I were you and the dealership wasn't helping with anything, the next step would be to call Infiniti corporate.

Nobody on the forums here is going to be able to help you with this. It's up to the dealer to straighten this out. They are telling the truth however about not being able to go back to the old software. But there is a way around it. Just order you a new ECU with the original software on it. Problem solved....

Just FYI if you want the Infiniti corporate consumer affairs phone number it's:

Thank you for all the help man. but may i ask, if your car's ecu was reflashed by this 10-042 TSB? if yes, did you notice a decrease in performance, and quieter engine rev sound?

Nope I never had this technical service bulletin performed. But I just looked up your TSB number ITB10-042 in the Infiniti TSB database online and it's coming up for 2009-2010 FX's.

To me it sounds like the dealer screwed up your idle. The car should be idling like at 700-750 RPM normally.

this tsb is intentionally for fx35 with low idle...funny how i had higher idle before the ecu was reprogrammed.
