So today I got some very chitty news. My boss pulled me aside and said that buisness is slow, has been slow and does not look like it will get better anytime soon. He is going to cut my hours in half and that I should look for a second job. I asked if there was a chance he was going to lay me off, he said no. So basicly he won't lay me off because he does not want to pay unemployment. I think he is trying to get me to quit all together, knowing I can't survive on 20 hours. He said why don't you go be a bouncer at a bar somewhere... I felt like bouncing him:mad.: All this BS is happening at the worst possible time, trying to save for my wedding in Aug. This is all like a wicked sucker shot to the jaw. I am asking if anyone can help in the West burbs. I am looking for a high end (busy) body shop for full time or something with good pay in the automotive industry. I have been a Combo tech, Painting cars for the past 10+ years. I am also looking for something in the same field or not, for a part timer, 2-3 days a week, Saturdays or evenings. I would appreciate any help, more than you will ever know. I do not want to end up defaulting on mortgage and/or selling my beloved LOLA... Thank you if you took the time to read this.

Sorry to hear about that dude. Shitty times right now :bomb:

Sucks that you don't live in NY, my parents are hiring at their factory.

Sorry to hear that Joe. Maybe in the meantime you can offer to do custom side jobs? Maybe offer your services on Craigslists or somewhere? If anything comes up where I see fit for you, I'll let you know!

Sorry to hear that man. Best to look for another job while still employed. Focus on the search. Personally I'd take the twenty hours a week to search for a full-time gig and not get distracted by little stuff right now.

Really sucks to hear that Joe. You are a good person. Bad things shouldn't happen to good people, but it happens and it's not fair. AND what a shitty thing for your boss to do...sooo obvious he is doing it to not pay unemployment....also that will probably impact your benefits and stuff I would suspect.

It's best to expand during crap times....maybe you can expand to Chicago? :wink (2): Then we can use the warehouse for big meets and photographs and you can bring all your girlfriends!!!!

Sorry to hear about everything man....best of luck with everything

Thank you for all the support guys, going to hunt hard after I regrasp the situation this weekend. Still shell shocked at the moment.
On a positive note looking forward to this Saturday's meet with HA and the crew, enjoying the company of good people and everything that is FX family!

good luck Joe, time to invent something more efficient for the FX35, Manta Mouth Intake? :smile (2):

That seriously sucks. A lot of my automotive buddies mainly service and parts are getting hours cut too. Many of them just doing side-jobs.

Its never good for a business to cut a tech's hours, mainly because thats when they leave or steal from the company. I dont mean literally steal but say a guy comes in to your shop for body work, you quote him $1000. But tell him you can do it on the side for $750. That is stealing from the shop. Not saying you do it but many people are doing it. If you doing it on your own its all gravy.

All ethics aside, you willing to do sidework paint =D :ninja:

Can you do PDR? Seems like something to do easily on the side without taking all your time away from a real search. Set your own pace and time schedule. Everybody wants it or needs it (they should) and you can set your own prices if you're starving or not.
If you were in LA, I'd give you a real job too.
