2005 Honda S2000
hi guys ive been thinking about selling my fx35 latley and going back to a honda s2000 i used to have . i love my fx but it drinks gas n its been killing me latley , ive ordered new plugs , ive changed the oil , put air in tires , cleaned air filter . imma give the plugs a try if that doesnt help im really thinking of selling it . ive had the fx for about 2years now gonna be 2 years in january . i really like it but the gas is killing me n i just feel like its to much car for me , i just turned 19 i think the s2000 fits me better . its great on gas n smaller . but its a hard decision im scared i might regret selling the fx . what you guys think ?:embarrassed:

Do you ever need the extra space? Two completely different cars with regards to the word "utility"......Do you go on three day or longer trips with the GF? Going to have kids anytime soon? =)

Look you're young. If an S2000 can fit your lifestyle needs then it is a great car to have an such a young age. It's extremely reliable, it handles well, decent power, mods are plentiful, maintenance is cheap and very DIY friendly, etc. Your back is soft and supple where the sometimes jolting ride will not both you. My parents always told me to do the sports car thing as much as you can when young, and I agree with them.

try being light on the throttle, really helps save gas a lot. Cruising at 65mph on the highway versus @ 80 = HUGE difference (23/24mpg compared to 18/19).

Had a problem with gas also when i first got it, but really learned how to conserve but still have fun. Drive ~400 miles a week, spend about $75 on gas. Thats about $300 a month, which is not bad considering some of my friends pay the same amount on public transportation

actually gas seemed fine when i first got it , and seemed to have gotten worse ive spent like 65 bucks on just 3 days of driving . im thinking its the plugs . it got better when i changed the oil , cleaned the filter and added air to tires . tires were pretty low but still its not were i want it .

Seems like you have a plan so I say do it. If I could my fx would become a 2009 m35 or m45 right about now.

lol yea those cars are sick . im worried that i might regret selling the fx though . cuz i remeber when i had the s2000 i was kinda complaining that it was unconfortable cuz of how small it was . im 6ft

I say do it. Sounds like you regret not having the s2000 more than you might regret not having the fx.

naw i think imma regret the fx more . the only thing making me wanting to sell it is the gas problem . fx is more confortable , more car than an s2000 just overall a better car i think its just this gas thing is killing me . my mpg on my navi is saying 14 to 15 mpg

Well if you want to have better gas mileage and comfort with sport...can't beat a sports sedan.

I'm 5'8" so I fit in sports cars no problem. My daily before the FX was a Z4 and wow do I ever miss it.

I will agree with you Chris. your young and I hope you are a RESPONSIBLE person and yes imo you should do the sports car thing once early on. come back to the FX later on when you really really need the extra FX. Good Luck to you and enjoy your S2K. never forget to respect other people on the road btw.

I say just follow what your instinct bc you can tell you really want the S2000. How much you planning on selling it for if you do?

Wow I have an 04 AWD and my mpg on the nav screen is about 16.4-17.1. I have a really heavy foot too. My friend hydroplaned his s2000 in the rain so I don't really like it. I'm guessing cause it lightweight. He was just going straight on the freeway and it happened. I'm 21 now but when I was 19 I did want a 2 seater. I say go for the 350z and still with nissan:smile (2): Not as good as the s2000 about mileage, but better than the fx and more fun to drive.

see mine used to be the same , n idk what happend after a year and a half owning it . it says now between 13 n 15 mpg . n sometimes it even gets to 12 . n its really been drinking gas alot .

Something is wrong, you're getting killed on MPG. I get between 16-22 in my 45. Do you have a heavy foot? Tire pressure should be 35PSI. Are you using premium gas? That actually makes about a 4MPG difference in my 45. Covers the higher price and then some, plus is noticeably faster with premium. Change your plugs, refine your tire pressure, fill with fresh premium, and try to drive a little more conservatively, see what that gets you. Doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy the car, it's fast and fun to drive. But a lot of people (and I was like this when I was younger) are either hard on the gas pedal, or hard on the brake pedal. Drive like grandpa sometimes, and like a bat out of hell other times. Most of what kills MPG is bad driving practice.
