hey what i did last weekend was when i replaced the rear rotors, i started to notice surface rust within days on the hub. the hub is really visible with the rims i have, so i wanted to do something about it. i took the rotors off, got 280 grit sandpaper, and sanded the whole hub and small ring on the disk where the pads dont touch. i then got some electrical tape, because you can "stretch" it to conform to the circle perfectly, and taped off the disk around the small lip that isnt hit by the pads. then i covered the rest of the disk with masking tape. i bought some black 1000 degree paint at kragen, which was made for bbq grills and stoves. i sprayed the hub and ring and let it dry for an hour. it has been one week, and i havent gotten any nicks, scrapes or chips in the hubs. it looks way better and i think it is pretty protected back there from rocks, etc. i even saw a new corvette that had nice rims but rusty rotor hubs and it looked like crap. i recommend to anyone that can really see that back hub!!
