Right cost of change the belt...

Hi guys~

Today, i droped my 06 fx35 at one of my local dealers. they said that i have to change two belt in the engine room cause belt is too loose. So it makes clicking sound and then they gave me a price about $226 + tax. Guys~~ what should i do for this deal~ i think this deal is pretty expensive. Please give me an advice~ thank you~
 
i would just buy the belts and do it my self... pretty easy if you have a jack and a set of jack stand.. we have diy for it too.
 
I paid $35 total at Autozone for both Gatorback belts. It will take you approx 45 minutes to do it yourself with no jack or stands. Really you dont need them, there's plenty of room to change the belts and get to the bolts/nuts.
 
I replace the belts only when I see wear or cracking. I replaced the first set at 60K and the second set at 100K. The second set wasn't really needed - but I got new pulleys so decided to put on new belts.

I'm rocking the Gatorbacks too. Like you, I didn't need a jack or anything to change the belts. I just removed the wide intake duct at the top of the radiator.

I have found on my G35s that the OEM belts do not last long before they start making noise, which is one reason I went with the Gatorbacks.

I did the AC belt last weekend and took me 20 mins to do this. This is really really easy. Both belts cost me 50 bucks.

I bought Gates Belt. If you have some tools, I recommend trying this. This is one of the easiest maint. you can do to save $$
 
Funny enough i replaced both my belts this wknd. Piece of cake. the hardest part was following the directions.
I loosened the tensioner BEFORE cracking the pully bolts.
Felt like a retard.
But it still was easy, just cost me more time.
Do it yourself buddy, if you have your own tools its easy, trust us.
I saved about $80 in labour and the belts cost me $30 from autozone.
About to change my plugs next wknd.
