Right cost of change the belt...

Just did a belt change today for the first time. Went with Gator back Alternator # 6PK1145, A/C belt # 4PK0945. Very easy job for DIY even first timers.

Has anyone used these particular belts? My alternator belt used up all the tensioner and seems to be a little loose. Only can comparison test by how tight the old belt was by touch. Works fine but just curious as this was my first belt DIY. Thanks...
 
I chime in with the chorus. Do it yourself bud. And for that extra cash u save take your wife or girlfriend to a nice restaurant

Why did you use different belts? They are exactly the same size, right?

I loosened the tensioner BEFORE cracking the pully bolts.
Felt like a retard.
But it still was easy, just cost me more time.
Do it yourself buddy, if you have your own tools its easy, trust us.
I saved about $80 in labour and the belts cost me $30 from autozone.

I just replaced the belts myself. This was the first time I wrenched one of my own cars and while there was a bit of a learning curve, I'm happy I did it.

My local dealer wanted to do it for $220 and my local mechanic wanted $120. I spent less than $40 at my local parts place and did it myself. It took me almost two hours and some bloody knuckles but I did it. The next time, changing the belts will take me 30 minutes.

The hardest part for me was tightening the alternator tensioner. After a lot of cursing from trying to tighten it from the top and a lot of belt squeal. I took off the plastic shroud at the bottom of the engine and tightened it from the bottom. It was MUCH easier from the bottom of the engine for me.
