Replacing Engine Drive Belts

i installed my belts about 6 months ago late november they started squeeking a louder squeek when its warming up a low murmur squeek when idle i never torqued down the pulley anyone ever have this problem? Some say its making noise when its cold but its annoying to hear that sound from your car hehe
 
Every now and then mine would squeal for a second when cranking. Started when it got colder here also. Doesn't do it every time though.
 
Hmmm. I had a similar issue when I installed my lightweight pulleys because the alternator pulley has one more rib than the belt (or any of the other pulleys) and that combined with my faulty belt installation created a sporadic squeal that would come and go with cold weather. It persisted for about a week before I realized my error and realigned the belt. Since then I've been problem free.

I installed the Gates Blue Racing Belts and had to tighten them up a little twice for squeeling issue. Better to have to come back and re tighten them than to overtighten them originally as you can damage bearings if they are too tight, That being said if they squeel then they need to be tightened. You should barely be able to twist the belt a quarter turn by hand when tight.

I haven't seen any place that rents the tool. The tension measurement tool isn't too expensive online from my research. I will say that I didn't use the tension measurement tool when I installed my belts and almost one year later I only had to tighten the tensioner once when it slightly squeaked.
 
I'm on that now

I just bought from stillen the under driven pulleys and the shorter belt for the application, and I went to the dealer for some warranty problems and they told me I should change both belts, so I decided to go and check the Gates belts... Im heading out now to buy them and maybe installed by next tuesday along with another 3 mods. yeaiiiaaaa
 
I just installed the belts, CAI, stillen echaust and pulleys and u can feel the difference in high rpm, plus gas milleage went from 15.4 mpg to 17.2 mpg... Thats a relieve considering gas prices

Gates racing belts are supposedly stronger, last longer, and come in a pretty blue color. Honestly, I really don't see the.benefit over the Goodyear. You're going to have to.change these every 60k anyways. The racing belts are 2x - 3x more expensive.
