Replace Catalytic Converter DIY

Does it require lifting the motor up/out?

Just lift the front end with jack stands and have plenty of extension bars to reach the bolt that you have to get front inside the hood. A slight pain but not hard at all

Did you install your test pipes?

Any chance someone has pictures of cats being replaced in an AWD?

I had similar ones. If you don't mind drone Invidia high-flows cats are pretty good. We have them in stock.

My stock cats appear to be decent shape for the time being. But if one were to fail, I'm sure I could live with a little extra drone if it saved me a significant amount of cash.

thx!

Hello guys,

Sorry to raise this thread back to life. I have been inactive for awhile on the forums. So my 2007 FX35 is in the shop for a seal leak. On removing the exhaust, the mechanic noticed one of my cats mesh cover is messed up and fell off its mounting. He said this is the reason that I have noise when I start my engine.

Bottom line, I need replacement catalytic converters. I have Invidia full cat back exhaust system. Anybody can chime in for a replacement without going the suggested OEM replacement of $700+ a piece? I also may need the invidia exhaust gaskets as they are rusting out. Any help is appreciated.

The cheapest OEM replacement I've found is $550. I don't know about non-OEM. Mine has been rattling for 8 months now, but still works and passed emissions.

Where did you bought yours? The $550 price - is that for a single unit only or for the pair?

Thanks in advance Mike.
